  • 75 Gallon - Mixed African Cichlid Aquarium its been quite a while since my last video, and last night I finally got my new camera! I'm sorry that this video is so short, I really don't know how to use this new camera yet, but I just had to get something up to let all of you know that more vids will be coming once again! As you can see, almost EVERYTHING has changed since my last vid. I converted this tank into an african cichlid tank with mostly mbuna species and a few pea***s. However, you still see the firmilair faces of the blood parrot cichlid and my female firemouth cichlid...i know they shouldn't really be with the africans but i just couldnt let them go. Everyone in the house loves those two and they're probably the oldest fish in the tank, and so far they are having no problems with the africans! The PH in the water is currently at 8.0 which is great for the africans, but not so high that the non-africans can't handle it. Everyone has adapted well and I havn't any disease or sick fish! The filtration system is still the same as always, which is Two Marineland Emperor 400 Bio-wheels power filters. In totaly, they filter 800 gallons per hour, and i do weekly water changes and gravel vacs. the stocking list is as follows: AFRICAN MALAWI -2 Aulonocara Pea*** cichlids -9 Yellow Labs (labidochromis caeruleus) -3 Cobalt Blue Cichlids (metriaclima callianos) -1 Melanochromis Interruptus -1 Albino Socolofi Cichlid (pseudotropheus socolofi) -1 Albino Zebra cichlid (metriaclima estherae) -1 Yellow Tail Acei ...

  • AFRICAN CICHLID 55 GALLON AQUARIUM So.... I finally got around to making a vid of the new 55 Cichlid set up. Its been up and running for a few months now. The three Cichlids from my original temporary 10 gallon setup and video are also in this tank. I have added some new fish as well. The Yellow Lab from the original 10 gallon video had some Fry, 3 survived, but they are crossed with the Albino Zebra... The two smaller fry have darker stripes than the other... I guess I'll have to wait to see what they look like when they mature. • African Cichlids! Lake Malawi Mbuna including White Top Hara Please click on that high quality button :) I was just experimenting today with some editing techniques. It was a lot of fun to make this video. I hope you enjoy it. Some background on this tank. This tank was set up December 2005. This was a Christmas present for me from my husband, to house my everly growing collection of African Cichlids. I still have some of my original cichlids. Big Momma, one of my labs in MANY of my videos, was purchased as a breeding adult when I got her, so, I never got to watch her grow. AND, I have NO IDEA how old she was when I got her. She surprized me the first week I brought her home by spitting about 30 baby labs in my tank. Hence the name, big momma. She always spit 20-30 babies at a time. Since I'm guessing she is at LEAST five years old, she is probably my oldest cichlid. She has not had babies for about a year now. Anyway, some specs on this tank This tank is 90 US gallons. An all glass aquarium with matching oak hood and stand. Lighting is standard hood twin Coralife one is 5500K and the other is 10000K heating: Two visitherm stealth 200 watt heaters One in tank the other in my overflow. This tank contains about 200 pounds of lace rock and about 50 pounds of moon rock, and bagged crushed coral is in my sump. My tap water is very soft and acidic, the buffering from the moon rocks and crushed coral helps. I also use Seachem Malawi buffer and Cichlid Lake Salts I DO NOT use Aquarium salt and I DO NOT use carbon. I wouldn't even use the ...

  • My Blood Parrot Cichlid Chubbs This is my Jellybean Convict (I'm pretty sure he has a bit more convict in him than your typical blood parrot) named Chubbs because he LOVES to eat, anything and everything. He is a solitary fish because he ate his dither fish (3 zebra danios) within an hour of them being introduced. He's in a 15 gallon tank for now, I'm sure he'll outgrow it... He's being fed wardley cichlid pellets (soon to be replaced by hikari cichlid gold), frozen brine shrimp, and an algae wafer (he likes his veggies i guess) once a week... oh and a live cricket once a month.

  • Malawi Tank Video! Cichlid, Mbuna, African Fish, Aquarium This is my 300l (ca. 75 gal.) malawi tank with fishes / cichlids / mbuna from lake Malawi, east africa. My Malawi tank / aquarium is decorated only with rocks, this is necessary because mbuna from lake malawi are rock dwelling cichlids. Mbuna like rocks, caves and sand, so the malawi tank has to be decorated with huge stones. They are quite agressive and territoral at times but belong to the most beautiful and colorful swee***er fishes. In my Malawi tank, i keep Labeotropheus trewavasae, Tropheops Macrophtalmus, Pseudotropheus Saulosi, Maylandia Estherae, Labidochromis Hongi and Labidochromis caeruleus (Yellow). Especially the Labeotropheus and Tropheops are mbuna / mbunas that look very good and show interesting behaviour. Tropheops macrophthalmus is the only mbuna / cichlid / fish in my malawi tank that has got a name. And no, its not nemo! I call him "Saddam" because he is sometimes a little tyrant!
