Chemotherapy Marginally Effective Against Breast, Brain, Liver, Pancreatic, Colon, Prostate Cancer Chemotherapy Cancer Treatment I'm not a medical professional. But let me read a few quotes on chemotherapy for you to ponder. Please do your own research into this topic. "My studies have proved conclusively that untreated cancer victims live up to four times longer than treated individuals. If one has cancer and opts to do nothing at all, he will live longer and feel better than if he undergoes radiation, chemotherapy or surgery, other than when used in immediate life-threatening situations."---Professor Jones. 1956 Transactions of the NY Academy of Medical Sciences, vol 6. Now closer to the present, "With some cancers, notably liver, lung, pancreas, bone and advanced breast, our 5 year survival from traditional therapy alone is virtually the same as it was 30 years ago."---Dr. P Quillin, Ph.D. "1.7% increase in terms of success rate a year, its nothing. By the time we get to the 24 century we might have effective treatments, Star Trek will be long gone by that time." Dr. Ralph Moss, PhD. "....chemotherapy's success record is dismal. It can achieve remissions in about 7% of all human cancers; for an additional 15% of cases, survival can be 'prolonged' beyond the point at which death would be expected without treatment. This type of survival is not the same as a cure or even restored quality of life."—Dr. John Diamond, MD "We have a multi-billion dollar industry that is killing people, right and left, just for financial gain. Their idea of research is ...

Acupuncture as treatment of chemotherapy induced neuropathy Acupuncture as treatment of chemotherapy induced neuropathy. hemotherapy can have adverse effects on the nervous system. Some chemotherapy such as vincristine, cisplatin, and pa***axel have been known to cause symptoms of neuropathy such as numbness, tingling and pain in the extremities, mild weakness, and constipation. Severe nerve damage may cause impaired walking abilities, severe bladder dysfunction, and disabling sensory loss. These side effects may improve or disappear after the discontinuation of chemotherapy, but may take several months to do so. Several medications can be given to alleviate these symptoms and are listed below. Often times, they are combined with ***gesics or narcotic medications to provide maximum pain relief. Response to therapy varies with each individual and their tolerance to possible side effects. Many of these medications are used to treat other health conditions and not all medications may be appropriate for you. Speak to your physician about your treatment options. Non-medicinal methods can also be used to help manage neuropathy. If your fingers are numb, be very careful when grasping sharp, hot, or otherwise dangerous objects. If your sense of balance or muscle strength is affected, avoid falls by moving carefully, using handrails when going up or down stairs, and using bath mats in the bathtub or shower. And always wear shoes with rubber soles (if possible) to protect your feet.

Cancer Help: How to Apply Makeup During Chemotherapy Have you become Agoraphobic in the face of Cancer? I created this Makeup Tutorial for Women going through Chemotherapy because, as a Breast Cancer Fighter (and soon, Survivor!), I found it discouraging that so many of the women we see on television and in the media (like Celia in WEEDS, Lynette in DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES, and Samantha in *** AND THE CITY) are depicted as just having buzzed hair or bald heads. If you've had cancer and chemo, you know that's NOT what you look like! Your hair thins, often not fallling completely out. You lose your eyebrows and eyelashes - often you don't even recognize yourself when you look in the mirror!! It can be very discouraging and you don't want to go out in public. It doesn't have to be that way. With just a little effort, you can put your face together and feel more comfortable going out in public and not feeling like a freakshow. You just have to rediscover makeup again! Mayo Clinic Researchers Study Chemotherapy and Colon Cancer Patients with stage III colon cancer treated with 5-FU-based chemotherapy after complete surgical removal of their tumor after 1995 had improved overall survival with no change in time to recurrence compared to patients treated before 1995. In contrast, patients with stage II colon cancer treated after 1995 had longer time to recurrence and time from recurrence to death compared to those patients treated prior to 1995, according to Mayo Clinic and Gr Hospitalier Pitie-Salpetriere, Paris, researchers. They will present the study's findings on June 4-8, 2010, at the American Society of Clinical Oncology annual meeting in Chicago. "By combining information from 21 cancer treatment trials for patients with stage II and stage III colon cancer, our ***ysis determined that those patients treated after 1995 had improved overall survival," says Dan Sargent, Ph.D., Mayo Clinic biostatistician, North Central Cancer Treatment Group statistician and senior author on the study. The ***ysis compared patient data from more than 18000 patients with stage II and stage III colon cancer treated with 5-FU-based chemotherapy after their primary tumor had been surgically removed for the time period 1978-1995 versus 1996-2007.
Chemotherapy & Hematopoiesis: Understanding Your Blood Counts An educational video to help you better understand the potential effect of chemotherapy on your overall health. Welcome to 'Understanding Your Blood Counts During Chemotherapy', an educational program for patients with cancer and their caregivers. All cells in the body use DNA as a blueprint to divide into new cells that replace old, dying cells as part of the body's normal "wear and tear" process. Damage to the DNA could lead to rapid and out of control growth of cells. This is the hallmark of cancer. Many cancers can be treated with chemotherapy medicines that kill these fast-growing cancer cells. Unfortunately, chemotherapy also attacks fast-growing healthy cells, including those that form hair follicles, the lining of the mouth and stomach, reproductive cells, and blood cells. The temporary loss of these normal cells causes many of the side effects associated with chemotherapy. According to a recent survey of doctors, one of the most important side effects of chemotherapy is the impact on blood cells. To help you better understand the impact of chemotherapy on your overall health, in the program, you'll learn what blood cells do and how they are made, to help better understand the impact of treatment on your overall health. In addition to plasma, which is mostly water, salt, and proteins, the blood pumping through your body contains three main cellular components. They are: red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. Each of these cells has a unique and ...
Hot Chemotherapy - The Nebraska Medical Center Dr. Jason Foster is one of a very small number of surgical oncologists in the United States practicing HIPEC, or hot chemotherapy. It's used to treat cancers of the appendix, ovaries, colon as well as mesothelioma. Surgeons first remove the visible tumor from inside the abdominal cavity, then fill the cavity with a heated chemotherapy solution. The chemo essentially "washes" out the microscopic cancer cells from the patient's abdomen. It's these tiny cancer cells that often re-implant and cause the cancer to return. 65-80% of abdominal cancer returns in patients treated with traditional surgery followed by IV chemotherapy. To learn more about this approach or to make an appointment with Dr. Foster, visit or call 1-800-922-0000.
Curing Cancer Without Chemotherapy Curing Cancer without Chemotherapy Is it possible to cure cancer without using chemotherapy or only using low doses of chemotherapy? FOX 7's Loriana Hernandez spoke with a Houston doctor who says that is possible and that he has done just that. Dr. Stanley Burzynski runs a clinic in Houston where he treats cancer with a medical discovery he made in the 1970's. Instead of traditional treatments, he targets specific affected genes and not the entire body. He said that his research showed that people with cancer are missing peptides in their blood. He uses peptides, derivatives, and mixtures to make a drug he calls antineoplastins to treat the cancer. LINK:
Breast Cancer And Hodgkin's Lymphoma Chemotherapy Treatment Model Cheyenne Ruether "A study of over 10000 patients shows clearly that chemo's supposedly strong track record with Hodgkin's disease (lymphoma) is actually a lie. Patients who underwent chemo were 14 times more likely to develop leukemia and 6 times more likely to develop cancers of the bones, joints, and soft tissues than those patients who did not undergo chemotherapy (NCI Journal 87:10)."—John Diamond "Children who are successfully treated for Hodgkin's disease are 18 times more likely later to develop secondary malignant tumours. Girls face a 35 per cent chance of developing breast cancer by the time they are 40----which is 75 times greater than the average. The risk of leukemia increased markedly four years after the ending of successful treatment, and reached a plateau after 14 years, but the risk of developing solid tumours remained high and approached 30 per cent at 30 years (New Eng J Med, March 21, 1996) "Success of most chemotherapy is appalling...There is no scientific evidence for its ability to extend in any appreciable way the lives of patients suffering from the most common organic cancer...chemotherapy for malignancies too advanced for surgery which accounts for 80% of all cancers is a scientific wasteland."---Dr. Ulrich Abel, 1990 "In the end there is no proof that chemotherapy in the vast majority of cases actually extends life."---Dr Ralph Moss, Ph.D.,

What is Chemotherapy? (part 1 of 2) | HealthiNation Understand what chemotherapy is and why it often plays a large part in cancer treatment. Related Videos: Coping with Chemotherapy (part 2 of 2) | HealthiNation True Life Story: Chemotherapy | HealthiNation Transcript: What Is Chemotherapy? Chemotherapy is a type of drug treatment that's been used for the last 50 years to treat cancer. It is typically used to attempt to rid the body of all cancer cells, shrink the size of cancer before surgery, or to relieve the symptoms and improve the quality of life for those with cancer. How Does Chemotherapy Work? Chemotherapy works by infusing chemicals, or drugs, into the body. These drugs move throughout the body to kill cells that multiply and divide rapidly, like cancer cells do. This treatment can shrink or sometimes eliminate cancer all together. And, since the drugs reach all parts of the body, the treatment can be effective even if the disease has spread. Unfortunately, chemotherapy drugs are not able to distinguish the difference between cancerous and healthy cells that divide and rapidly multiply. This means that healthy cells in areas of the body like the bone marrow, the digestive system, or the hair follicles, may be killed too in the process. How Is Chemotherapy Treatment Given? Chemotherapy can be administered as a pill, an injection or sometimes it's applied as a skin cream. It can be given at any stage in the cancer treatment, and will often be part of a larger treatment strategy. For ...
