因果食物鏈Causal-Loop Food chain This is our lovely planet Earth. We live in Taiwan, a beautiful island. We used hefty amounts of chemical fertilizers to grow flower and vegetables, in which salinized our land and polluted the underground water. Others use raw chicken manure to grow organic vegetables which also polluted our high-elevation water dams. We have purchased so much imported pesticides that have all leaked into our drinking water. We've built underground water ducts like the romans, and agriculturally farmed a large meat supply. Perhaps we have forgotten about our spiritual ancestors' teachings, and signs from the divine. Mankind isn't as grand and glorious as we think; we rely on environment and every living creature to survive. This is Taihu Lake in China; my friend lives there. There is no divinity in Taihu. And they have also forgotten our ancestor's intentions: the written character for "manure" in Chinese has a "paddy" in it, not lake. Watching the polluted waves of Yangtze River crash on the beach, and its inevitable fate dying with it. This is the water that my friend drinks. The collapse of the ecological pyramid. At this critical time, we need to flip the pyramid other in our values. All of the poison in pollution will ultimately concentrate back to us. Maybe some people believe that man is created by god, but try to open your mind and see the evolution of Earth. 35 billion years ago, photosynthesis has already begun. The initial stages of Earth do not hold any oxygen. Algae secured ...

Judea Pearl Tribute Symposium: Causality UCLA computer science professor Judea Pearl was honored March 12, 2010 at an all-day workshop celebrating his influential contributions in artificial intelligence and related sciences. The event, held at the UCLA Faculty Center, coincided with the 25th anniversary in which Pearl introduced the term Bayesian Network -- a graphical model of probabilistic and causal relationships named after the 18th Century English mathematician Thomas Bayes. At the event, Pearl was presented with a Festschrift entitled "Heuristic, Probability and Causality: A Tribute to Judea Pearl" bayes.cs.ucla.edu
Timeless Explanation: A New Kind of Causality, Julian Barbour There are serious indications from attempts to create a quantum theory of gravity that time must disappear completely from the description of the quantum universe. This has been known since 1967, when DeWitt discovered the Wheeler-DeWitt equation. I shall argue that this forces us to conceive explanation and causality in an entirely new way. The present can no longer be understood as the consequence of the past. Instead, I shall suggest that one may have to distinguish possible presents on the basis of their intrinsic structure, not on the basis of an assumed temporal ordering. If correct, this could have far-reaching implications. Hitherto, because the present has always been interpreted as the lawful consequence of the past, science has made no attempt to answer 'Why' questions, only 'How' questions. But if there is no past in the traditional sense, we must consider things differently. Thus, if we eliminate time, we may even be able to start asking "Why" questions. *** Specification of a point and tangent vector in conformal superspace (CS) determines a slab of spacetime in CMC foliation and unique curve in CS. Almost perfect implementation of Mach's principle because local inertial frames, local proper distance and local proper time all emergent and determined by the universe's shape and shape velocity. The Mystery: Shape velocity, as opposed to shape direction, is last vestige of Newton's absolute space and time. Responsible for expansion of the universe and perhaps ...

On the Nature of Causality in Complex Systems, George FR Ellis Big Bang cosmology, chemical and biological evolutionary theory, and associated sciences have been extraordinarily successful in revealing and enabling us to understand the development of the universe from the Planck era to the present, as well as the emergence of complexity, life, and consciousness here on Earth. After briefly sketching this amazing story, and the key characteristics of nature, this paper will reflect on the different types and levels of causality involved -- stressing the important and pervasive role of highly differentiated and dynamic relationships and networks of relationships. Philosophical considerations build on and enrich scientific ones to probe these relationships. They also take us beyond the limits of strictly scientific methodology to consider and model -- however inadequately -- the ultimate sources of existence and order. This is the issue of creation, which introduces another very different -- and transcendent -- level of causality. We show that this is compatible with the -- and even essential to -- the causalities operative in nature, including those of quantum cosmology, if we acknowledge the limits of physics. This lecture was delivered by George Ellis during the 16th Kraków Methodological Conference "The Causal Universe", May 17-18, 2012. More information: causal- http Photos: www.adamwal***.pl

Physics of the Hidden World: Markoupolou's talk on CDT: www.q2 Miković paper on spin-foam based CDT: Abstract of Mikovic's paper: "We construct a class of spin foam models describing matter coupled to gravity, such that the gravitational sector is described by the unitary irreducible representations of the appropriate symmetry group, while the matter sector is described by the finite-dimensional irreducible representations of that group. The corresponding spin foam amplitudes in the four-dimensional gravity case are expressed in terms of the spin network amplitudes for pentagrams with additional external and internal matter edges. We also give a quantum field theory formulation of the model, where the matter degrees of freedom are described by spin network fields carrying the indices from the appropriate group representation. In the non-topological Lorentzian gravity case, we argue that the matter representations should be appropriate SO(3) or SO(2) representations contained in a given Lorentz matter representation, depending on whether one wants to describe a massive or a massless matter field. The corresponding spin network amplitudes are given as multiple integrals of propagators which are matrix spherical functions."

The Double Slit Interferometer in the Causal Interpretation of Quantum Theory Probably one of the most fundamental problems in modern physics, is the problem of wave-particle duality. In this video the two-slit interferometer experiment is simulated numerically according to the causal interpretation of David Bohm and L. de Broglie. The slits generate two Gaussian profiles in (x,t) space, positioned at +/-X. Identical " particles emitted by a source S impinges on a double - slit interferometer. Thus each particle goes through a different slit. The edges of the slits are assumed smooth enough to avoid diffraction effects on higher order. According to the orthodox interpretation of quantum theory, it cannot be decided which slit the particle goes through because of the self-interference effect. It has to be assumed that the particle goes through both slits and the wavefunction collapses when a measurement is made at the detector screen. The causal interpretation is completely different. The quantum particle passes through slit one or slit two and never crosses the axis of symmetry. The paths of the quantum particles are not detectable directly because of the perturbation effects of the measuring process. Which slit the particles pass through depends on the initial position only. The quantum particles possess well-defined positions and velocities at all times. In the causal interpretation of quantum theory there is a quantum force proportional which is called the quantum potential. The quantum potential leads to highly nonclassical motion of particles ...

Abigail and Brittany Hensel and causality Abigail "Abby" Loraine Hensel and Brittany "Britty" Lee Hensel (born March 7, 1990, Carver County, Minnesota, United States), are highly symmetric dicephalic parapagus conjoined twins. For more specific information you can visit Wikipedia: Think about the causal factors that could result in the girls developing different psychologically. They were both born with the same gene. But Abby has been subjected to somewhat different circumstances than Brittany, and vice versa. People relate to them differently. The way they relate to each other also effects their psychological development. Furthermore, some environmental factor, a nurse or a caretaker possibly, back when the girls were but mere ***, caused one to became dominate over the other. Now one leads and the other follows. They couldn't function as they now do if they had remained equally dominate. Thus the differences we see in the girls is the consequence of the environmental circumstances to which each girl has been subjected to as an individual. Of course, the environment couldn't shape and form the individual if the individual was not designed genetically to allow for adaptation.

(C) Ligonier Ministries See the following links to purchase a High Quality Version of the presentation. Please support the ministry! MESSAGE INTRODUCTION The second of the four principles of knowledge is the law of causality. This law is defined as "Every effect must have a cause." A right understanding of this law can lead one to the answer to one of the greatest theological questions the seven year old can muster: "Who made God?" A wrong understanding can lead to denying the existence of God. Thus, the importance of this law should not be minimized. LEARNING OBJECTIVES 1. To see the seriousness of misunderstanding or ignoring this law. 2. To understand the nuances of the word "effect." 3. To understand David Hume's objections to causality. QUOTATIONS AND THOUGHTS The mind is good—God put it there. He gave us our heads and it was not his intention that our heads would function just as a place to hang a hat. (AW Tozer) It doesn't take a great mind to be a Christian, but it does take all the mind a man has. (RC Raines) Nothing but faith will ever rectify the mistakes of reason on divine things. (William S. Plumer) LECTURE OUTLINE I. Four principles of knowledge are crucial for dialog about God. a) Law of non-contradiction b) Law of causality c) Basic reliability of sense perception d) ***ogical use of language II. The danger of mixing up causality and correlation: Ionica Smeets at TEDxDelft Ionica Smeets (@ionicasmeets) is joining TEDxDelft Never Grow Up: A mathematician and science journalist with plenty of media experience. Using her vast knowledge and enthusiasm, she can explain everything about her favorite topics in science and statistics. She does it well on paper and face-to-face: She writes blogs, columns and books and is also asked to appear as a speaker, live, on television and on radio shows. Since 2006, Ionica has taken on the Internet with interesting and fun mathematics together with PhD Partner in Crime Jeanine Daems on the website . She and Jeanine now write a bi-weekly column in the Volkskrant about mathematics and the website also resulted in a book titled 'I Was Never Good At Math' (Ik was altijd heel slecht in wiskunde) in 2011. Ionica appears on De Wereld Draait Door to talk about mathematics; trying to explain the most complicated things and developments in the field of mathematics to the host Matthijs van Nieuwkerk and the audience. Even for the most mathematically challenged, it's educative and entertaining to listen to. In 2012 she became a reporter for KRO in a series called 'De Rekenkamer' investigating the financial aspects of giving blood and illegal minor immigrants. Together with Bas Haring she wrote 'Vallende Kwartjes' which are essays in which scientific processes and concepts are explained with straight-forward, easy-to-get examples and stories.
