I was game & pulled in my audio specialist buddy Peter Carpentier to see if he thought such a thing was possible. There were a couple of obvious challenges. The cameras could work on battery power, with extra charged batteries handy. But even though the Adat recording equipment & preamps would fit in a van, we would need to bring our own generator to power them. And the van would have to be far enough removed from the performance that the sound of the generator would not be a factor in the recording. That meant some long cords. Also all of the instruments would have to be acoustic, for the same reason. We wanted a location that was remote enough that it would not attract undue attention. Rob wanted to do the filming on the sly, without getting extensive clearance permissions. So we spent a day driving the back country down near the Mexican border. We happened upon a likely spot, an outcropping of boulders a couple of miles East of the desert town of Jacumba, between interstate 8 & the Mexican border. A few days later, on the evening of Nov 22, 1999, we caravaned out to the Jacumba Hot Springs Inn. We left the pavement at 9:00 pm and didnt get on the pavement until 1:00am, some went on a different route back home and didnt get back on pavement till 2:00am. This video was edited from my iphone and also recorded from my iphone by my girl in the passenger seat. (Wouldnt have been as shaky if I was able to bring the GoPro to mount on the windshield.)   • Got that Rambler Spirit In June, 2005, I had my 1964 Rambler Ambassador (Rosie) shipped about 2000 miles from home to the American Motors Rambler Club's national car show meet in Sacramento, CA. My friend Joe and I took a plane - no sense tempting fate. We met up with a couple of good friends who also own a Rambler - a 1964 Classic, and caravaned to the show together. We had a wonderful time. I'd never been to California before and this was an excellent excuse to go. The weather was perfect, the people were as nice as only Rambler people can be, and the cars were amazing. If you're into classic cars, you might enjoy this.

This was with a group of chasers including the Weathervine storm chase group (Jason Foster Jeff Gammons). We also caravaned with other chasers including Eric Nguyen and Scott Blair. We observed supercells, lightning, tornadoes, and huge / destructive hail during the mid to late May chase trip.
