CIRCULATION The circulatory system consisting of the heart, arteries, capillaries, and veins, is the pumping mechanism that transports blood throughout the body. In the heart, the left ventricle contracts, pushing red blood cells into the aorta, the body's largest artery. From here, blood moves through a series of increasingly smaller arteries, until it reaches a capillary, the junction between arteries and veins. Here oxygen molecules detach from the red blood cells and slip across the capillary wall into body tissue. Now de-oxygenated, blood begins its return to the heart. It passes through increasingly larger veins to eventually reach the right atrium. It enters the right ventricle, which pumps it through the pulmonary arteries into the lungs, to pick up more oxygen. Oxygenated, blood reenters the left atrium, moves into the left ventricle, and the blood's journey begins again.

Capillary based measurement with microfluidics capillary could serve as a flow through detection cell, gravity can serve as free pump for steady sample introduction, again, the capillary force could stop the flow automatically, this could be a innovate to a UV/Vis or fluorescent detection instrument using nanoliter sample, when not in using, just place a millipore water vial at capillary for wash the capillary!

Capillary Effect On Earth, the capillary effect can be seen in fine tubes containing liquid: surface tension pulls the liquid column up until there is a sufficient mass of liquid for gravity to overcome the intermolecular forces. As the mass of the liquid column is proportional to the square of the tube's diameter, a narrow tube will draw a liquid column higher than a wide tube. In space, many things work differently, but not always.
Capillary Action When two glass plates are separated at a 2.5 degree angle and placed in contact with water, a hyperbolic shape is created as the water creeps between the plates.

Warning on Avastin and Brain-Capillary Leaks Genentech is alerting healthcare professionals about two new safety issues for Avastin or bevacizumab, a drug used to treat certain colorectal and lung cancers. The first is a rare brain-capillary leak problem called reversible posterior leukoencephalopathy syndrome (RPLS). RPLS is a neurological disorder associated with hypertension, fluid retention and the cytotoxic effects of immunosuppressive drugs on the vascular endothelium. The onset of symptoms can occur from 16 hours to 1 year after starting Avastin treatment. These symptoms can include headache, seizures, visual disturbances and altered mental function with or without hypertension. An MRI is needed to establish a diagnosis of RPLS. The company says that if your patient develops RPLS, you should stop Avastin therapy and start treating the hypertension, if present. Symptoms of RPLS usually resolve or improve within days, although some patients continue to have ongoing neurological sequela. It is not known whether it is safe to restart Avastin therapy in patients who have already experienced RPLS. The second safety issue concerns patients on Avastin who have experienced perforation of the nasal septum. Seven cases of this adverse event have been reported since the drug was marketed.
Capillary Testimony from a Woman with Alopecia To purchase Capillary, e-mail capillarybygigi@ or phone - 310-433-7479 GIGI is an international hair and scalp specialist. Her career started when she was 13 years old in Rio de Janeiro. Her 36 years of experience and training with top French hair stylist 'Alex Alexander' has given her the ability to fashion hair according to the clients facial structure and the color of their skin. Her training continued with Italian and German stylists, and helped her learn to how resolve issues no matter what the hair-type. Her clients are from a variety of age-groups and professions, including the entertainment industry! Capillary's development stems from Gigi's own hair struggles. After her scalp was burned in a tragic accident, she started perfecting the formula. Once hearing from doctors that her hair would never grow back, she had do something. Her family had acquired the majority of an ancient hair-growth formula handed down from her elders in the Brazilian rainforest. To complete the formula, she went on a quest into the jungle and tracked down the remainder of the ingredients. For months she experimented with brazilian plant extracts until she found the correct combination of herbs and roots to complete the formula. She began massaging the solution into her scalp daily, and after three months, fuzzy patches appeared. A break-through had indeed been made, and Gigi knew she wouldn't have to wear wigs for the rest of her life like the doctors had predicted. In two and a ...

Geometrical beauty of droplet splashing into polygonal capillary tubes G. Juarez, Y. Zhang, T. Gastopoulos, and PE Arratia (Department of Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA 19104, USA),"Splash control using geometric targets," ArXiv, October 15, 2010 [video submitted to the American Physical Society division of fluid dynamics annual meeting showcase, the Gallery of Fluid Motion 2010]. "Experiments of water droplets impacting small geometric posts of equal dimension to the drop diameter are shown in this fluid dynamics video. High speed photography shows that the dynamics of drop splashing are significantly affected by the geometrical boundary of the target and that finger formation and drop break up are accurately controlled. When a liquid drop impacts with a smooth solid dry surface, it will expand horizontally outward until internal and external forces create asymmetry. This instability leads to the droplet breaking apart in a "splash". This fluid dynamics video investigates impacts between fluid droplets and geometrical substrates of equal length scale. The liquid is composed of de-ionized water and food coloring, for image enhancement purposes. Liquid drops are created by allowing water at room temperature to slowly drip out of a small capillary tube. Drops fallfrom a height of 13 cm before striking the target, hitting the surface with a velocity of 2 m/s resulting in a Reynolds (Re) number equal to 540 and a Weber (We) number equal to 250. The images are recorded using ...
Capillaries | Biology | Anatomy To purchase this DVD please visit Segment from the program Respiration and Circulation, Gas Exchange, Molecular Transport. DVD Description Our Respiration Circulation DVD looks at the flow of air through the conducting portions of the respiratory system to the alveoli before examing: the role of hemoglobin in gas exchange and O2 and CO2 transport in the blood; the operation of the respiratory control center; and the mechanics of breathing. The program then investigates the composition of blood and how it flows through the heart, arteries, capillaries and veins before looking at the role of the lymphatic system in fighting infection, transporting fats, and returning interstitial fluid to the blood.
Blue Table Painting- Tyranid Capillary Towers part 02 The only step missing here is the buttering on of expanding insulation foam near the bases to hide the gap. Jon and I were here until something like midnight finishing these. We made a lot of different stuff: Tyranid "bunkers", infested ground (difficult terrain), some broken towers/chimneys, and spore vents. All in all easily two table's worth of terrain.

Broken Capillaries NYC - (212)-644-9494 - NYC Broken Capillaries (212)-644-9494 Broken Capillaries Broken Blood Vessels Broken capillaries, or telangiectasias, are small, fine blood vessels that frequently appear on the face, but can occur anywhere on the body. They commonly appear as a result of sun exposure and thus are present on areas of skin with the greatest amount of cumulative sun damage. Other causes of broken blood vessels include inflammatory skin diseases such as rosacea. Rosacea is a long-term condition affecting the skin of the nose, cheeks, chin, or forehead that is characterized by redness, pimples, solid raised lesions, and dilated blood vessels. The condition tends to be chronic, and usually gets worse unless treated. In many people the condition is exacerbated by sun, stress, and certain foods. Our office offers many effective treatments for this condition, including laser treatments, topical medications, and oral antibiotics. Early intervention is recommended because broken capillaries worsen over time and become more difficult to treat as they enlarge.
