Draconian- The Apostasy Canticle When our flames were lit by chaos... We knew not the grip; the *** of light Then he waved his sceptre, and cosmos was formed Too late we knew our freedom was lost He blinded us; polluted our minds and forced us to drink his blood I will show the world god's true face, I will let the thunder roar... forevermore I've deceived his world, but regained paradise in the fire of my soul... (But) in the death of wind I sleep, as I wail this petrified landscape Chaos, anguish... an optimum affection in the clarity of certainty... so empty [The voice of the dark souls:] "Mighty Lucifer - thou art the light that leads to darkness AS much as I praise thee, I love thee without praise... As much as I love myself, I adore thee relentlessly Thou art our true father; the wine of Venus, the essence of our hope" Death, solemn death of the reaper's star, devour his legacy from afar I fumble... live... I fall... die; isolated in the crowds of god... and suffering In between lurks the everlasting absence... for my dark euphoria Thence I am sovran created, like in heaven, myself... and I fell in fury The indolence of solitude may drive out the soul of its sermon, And memory shall be lost to the blood which hopelessly pulsates The indolence of solitude may drive out the soul of its sermon, and memory shall be lost to the blood which hopelessly pulsates... ...in our excruciating hearts "Is this the region, this the soil, the clime, This the seat that we must change for heav'n, This mournful ...

Canticle of the Sun Sambayanihan-Filipino Ministry of St Mary (Huntley) Canticle of the Sun - Marty Haugen Translated into ASL by David Bar-Tzur Refrain: The heavens are telling the glory of God, and all creation is shouting for joy. Come dance in the forest, come, play in the field, and sing, sing to the glory of the Lord. Praise for the sun, the bringer of day, he carries the light of the Lord in his rays; the moon and the stars who light up the way unto your throne. (Refrain) Praise for the wind that blows through the trees, the seas mighty storms, the gentlest breeze; they blow where they will, they blow where they please to please the Lord. (Refrain) Praise for the rain that waters our fields, and blesses our crops so all the earth yields; from death unto life her mystery revealed springs forth in joy. (Refrain) Praise for the fire who gives us his light, the warmth of the sun to brighten our night; he dances with joy, his spirit so bright, he sings of you. (Refrain)

York, Protestant Cathedral: "The Sixth Canticle" York Minster is a Gothic cathedral in York, England and is one of the largest of its kind in Northern Europe alongside Cologne Cathedral. The Minster is the seat of the bishop of York, the second-highest office of the Church of England, and is cathedral for the Diocese of York; it is run by a Dean and Chapter under the Dean of York. The formal title of York Minster is The Cathedral and Metropolitan Church of St Peter in York. The English Reformation led to the first Anglican archbishop, the looting of much of the cathedral's treasures, and the loss of much of the church lands. Under Elizabeth I there was a concerted effort to remove all traces of the Roman Catholic Church from the cathedral; there was much destruction of tombs, windows, and altars. In the English Civil War the city was besieged and fell to the forces of Cromwell in 1644, but Thomas Fairfax prevented any further damage to the cathedral. Scarborough Fair/Canticle (traditional) - Piano Instrumental This was a medieval British traditional folk song. Simon and Garfunkel released a lovely version of it on their 1966 album, "Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme", and also appeared on the soundtrack of the movie The Graduate. Lyrics Are you going to Scarborough Fair: Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme. Remember me to one who lives there. She once was a true love of mine. On the side of a hill in the deep forest green. Tracing of sparrow on snow-crested brown. Blankets and bedclothes the child of the mountain Sleeps unaware of the clarion call. Tell her to make me a cambric shirt: Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme; Without no seams nor needle work, Then she'll be a true love of mine. On the side of a hill a sprinkling of leaves. Washes the grave with silvery tears. A soldier cleans and polishes a gun. Sleeps unaware of the clarion call. Tell her to find me an acre of land: Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme; Between the salt water and the sea strand, Then she'll be a true love of mine. War bellows blazing in scarlet battalions. General order their soldiers to kill. And to fight for a cause they've long ago forgotten. Tell her to reap it with a sickle of leather: Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme; And gather it all in a bunch of heather, Then she'll be a true love of mine. The history of this song is at
Scarborough Fair/Canticle Here's one of my guitar students playing Scarbouro Fair. To make it just a little more challenging, I sang the Canticle part along with her. It took her two lesson sessions to finally get through the whole song on video without any major mistakes, but all things considered, I thought it came out pretty good. Scarborough Fair/ Canticle This song goes back to medievel times. Scarborough Fair was not a fair as we know it today (although it attracted jesters and jugglers) but a huge 45 day trading event, starting August 15th. People from all over England, and even some from the continent, came to Scarborough to do their business. As eventually the harbour started to decline, so did the fair, and Scarborough is a quiet, small town now. Paul Simon learned the song from Martin Carthy, a famous folk singer in the UK, while he was on tour there. Despite using his arrangement of the song Simon didn´t even mention Carthy´s name in the credits. It was used in the film "The Graduate" as the director Mike Nichols decided to use it along with "Sounds of Silence" instead of new Simon songs.

Hangad - Simeon's Canticle This simple but moving arrangement for female soloist and mixed choir beautifully sets to music the passage in Luke 2: 29-32. It is appropriate to sing this song during the Advent season when the Church waits to celebrate the birth of Christ. The lyrics of the verses recall God's promise to send His Son, Emmanuel, to be the Light of the world. The words and melody can help set a reflective mood during personal prayer as we prepare for Christmas, or it can also be used as a psalm or communion hymn during the celebration of Mass.
