AYA Awards 2010 Youth Finalist - Mohamad Saiful Nang Mohamad Saiful Nang, 31 CEO & Photographer, CandidSyndrome Saiful, an engineer turned photographer turned businessman is nothing short of a story to tell. During an economic downturn in 2004, he lost most of his money, including his home and car. Starting from scratch, he started his photography career and despite being a budding photographer, he channeled most of his income into Rumah Pengasih Warga Prihatin, a shelter home for children. He not only helped built the home monetarily, he also made sure he invests his time into the lives of these children. Yet having travelled all around the world, he is affectionately known as "Ayah Saiful" to the children because of his down-to-earth nature. Starting from nothing, he chose not to register his company under the bumiputera status and managed to build his company to become one of the most sought-after photography studios in the international arena. To vote for Saiful, send "AYA Y 4" to 36828 now or visit to vote online!

Rajaratnam: BN MPs behaved like animals A Rajaratnam, president of the Federation of Indian Organisation who was a participant of the discussion at the Senate Lounge which caused a ruckus, said that BN MPs who intruded into the meeting behaved like animals. The roundatable discussion was on higher education and scholarships that have not been available to non-Malay students who scored exceptional grades in their secondary school examinations. Rajaretinam said the lack of government scholarships for non-bumiputera students was a "violation of democratic rights". "Last year there were about 10000 students with SPM 8As and above. Overall, there are about 10000 scholarships offered by the government and corporations. So it should be enough for all the top students," he explained. However, he added, the current system was such that some students were offered more than one option while some others were totally snubbed. Full story here:

Zaid Untuk Rakyat (2/3) Konflik & perjuangan Umno I quit my Ministerial post, and was kicked out of Umno. I didn't quit Umno, the party booted me. I wrote an open letter to the PM, on why we need to abolish the ISA, and it was widely circulated. That is why Umno booted me. I decided to continue my political fight, and to be part of Keadilan. Inter racial tension stems from Umno and the administration just because they want to stay in power. Pakatan Rakyat is not about abolishing the rights of the Bumiputera and of the Malays. We acknowlegde tht all Malaysians - regardless of race - have rights as rakyats. This is in our Constitution. We fought for Independence together, contributed to the econy together.... it isn't about race. People say that 'Zaid is not (a real) Malay', 'Zaid is not Melayu enough'. Thats why I wrote the book 'Saya Pun Melayu.' (The people in Umno) say that my stand against abolishing ISA makes me un-Melay. I am from Kelantan, it doesn't get Malay enough. There are more in the Cabinet who aren't 'real' Malays. They say that the ISA is necessary to uphold the rights of Malays. I think that is ridiculous. The ppl arrested under ISA are Malays. Malay leaders like myself who make it a priority to have consensus and equality, one country and one national.... (Umno) does not like it. When Malays and Chinese and Indians are ready to accept this... maka terkuburlah BN. Malay leaders who are supposed to fight for Malay rights have been careless and are corrupt and are using their ...
Malay Rights The Malay politicians continue to shout about Malay rights and bumiputera rights because the very nature of our local politics is sadly racially biased. In this day and age, a great nation is built upon joint success stories, meritocracy and the combined hard work of its people without any fear or favour of racial biased politics governing our daily policies.

Mahathir: I am disappointed Former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad said the government has received negative feedbacks from the people in regards with the abolition of teaching mathematics and science in English (PPSMI). According to him, 80 percent of 26000 respondents on his blog chedet.co.cc do not agree with the government's latest move. On the same note, Mahathir also rated Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's 100 days in office rather poorly as he gains "more negatives rather than positives", especially with the former's proposal to have a third bridge linking Johor Bahru and Singapore. Besides that, the 84-year-old took the opportunity to lash out against Najib's economic liberalisation move where the prime minister abolished 30 percent quota of bumiputera equity in various economic sectors as stated in New Economic Policy (NEP). He said, the NEP is not to be blamed for the slow economic growth in the country as the foreign direct investment (FDI) had never stopped throughout its 38-year implementation. On a separate development, Mahathir also grew suspicious on the actual cost of Selangor opposition leader and former menteri besar Dr Khir Toyo's mansion located in Shah Alam. 'Trace the missing RM52 bil in bumi shares' Bagan parliamentarian and Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng has called for a probe into the admission that RM52 billion worth of bumiputera shares are not in the right hands. "If we look at the RM54 billion worth of shares allocated, only RM2 billion worth remain in bumiputera hands. This means that there is a leakage of RM52 billion. Where has this gone?" he asked at a press conference in the Parliament lobby this morning. Lim was referring to a Bernama report dated June 30, 2009 in which premier Najib Abdul Razak had admitted that the bulk of the allocation is not held by bumiputeras as intended. The news agency had quoted Najib as saying: "Of the RM54 billion in shares allocated, only RM2 billion worth of shares are left in the hands of bumiputeras."
