Read more October 20, 2009 — The American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) and the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology (SART) have released new guidelines for the number of embryos to be transferred in in vitro fertilization cycles in an effort to reduce high-risk multiple pregnancies. The guidelines, based on ASRM and SART data from 2007, were published online October 19 in Fertility and Sterility. "High-order multiple pregnancy (three or more implanted embryos) is an undesirable consequence (outcome) of assisted reproductive technologies (ART)," the guidelines state. "Multiple gestations lead to an increased risk of complications in both the fetuses and the mothers." The guidelines are meant to assist ART programs and patients to determine the appropriate number of cleavage-stage (usually 2 or 3 days after fertilization) embryos or blastocysts (usually 5 or 6 days after fertilization) to transfer, and they can be modified according to the patient's age, embryo quality, and the opportunity for cryopreservation. They may also be ...

Embryo Vitrification.mp4 Kitazato India brings the Kitazato Biopharma Products to India. Vitrification or ultra-rapid cooling is a revolutionary cryopreservation technique that achieves solidification of cells without ice crystal formation, facilitated by the use of safe concentrations of cryoprotectants and extremely high cooling and warming rates. In contrast to the conventional slow-freezing method, it yield dramatically higher survival and developmental rates for both sensitive oocytes and all stages of embryos: zygote, cleavage stage and blastocysts. The use of very high cooling and warming rates achieved with the Cryotop method is one of the principal advantages of this method, and is the reason for the high functional survival of oocytes and embryos. The Cryotop method is the most trustworthy cryopreservation method for oocytes and embryo that is simple, reliable, safe and easy to use. Developed by M Kuwayama Ph.D. at the Advanced Medical Research Institute at the Kato Ladies Clinic, the largest IVF center in the world, it is now being used in more than 40 countries (700 IVF centers) world over with excellent oocyte/embryo survival rates and a high percentage of safe deliveries. This teaching video outlines the step-by-step protocol of Embryo Vitrification.

Low cost budget Infertility Treatment in India That said, a variety of additional assisted reproductive technology treatments are available in addition to basic IVF. They may be used depending on a couples specific fertility problems, goals, age, and past success or failure rates. ICSI ICSI, pronounces ick-see, is an acronym for intracytoplasmic sperm injection. In regular IVF treatment, an egg is placed in a petri dish, along with lots of sperm, in hopes that one of the sperm will fertilize the egg on its own. With ICSI, an individual sperm is injected directly into an egg using a specialized needle. ICSI may be used in severe cases of male infertility, like when the sperm shape is impaired (aka abnormal sperm morphology) orn cases of very low sperm count. ICSI must be used if testicular sperm extraction (TESE) is used. PGD PGD stands for pre-implantation genetic diagnosis. During PGD, one or two cells are taken from an embryo, and tested for genetic diseases, before transferring the embryos to the woman's uterus. PGD may be used in cases of recurrent miscarriage or to avoid passing on a deadly genetic disease, specifically for couples with a high-risk. It's important to note that PGD doesn't guarantee the child will not have the inherited disease being tested, but it does significantly lower the risk. A controversial use of PGD is to select embryos with particular traits, like eye color. This isn't widely used, however, and the ability to accurately select "children-by-order" isn't proven ...

Congratulations Barack Obama (Satire) My satirical take on the election of Barack Obama as president and the change, he will change, change change. Hello youtube and hello America, I just thought I would like to take a few minutes to congratulate Barack Obama on his election as president congratulations sir on your accomplishment. Not only are you the first black man to ever become president a fact which even by itself at least deserves passing recognition as the second coming of Jesus Christ you are also both the first deaf man to become president. Even as you sat in the pew of Trinity United Church of Christ you could not possibly hear your former pastor Jeremiah Wright imply that we had it coming on 9/11 by comparing 9/11 victims to chickens coming home to roost, his numerous conspiracy theories such as the old classic of the US government creating the AIDS virus to keep the black man down, or his admitted belief in the racist and satanic cult known as Black Liberation Theology. It was not your fault though as when you finally did get a decent sign language interpreter you finally left the church. The first you should be proud of above all else sir is being the first abortionist elected president. I know with this unique perspective that you will CUT to the chase, CARVE out a broad coalition that can affect positive CHANGE and SUCK the corruption out of Washington. And I know that with your election that we are finally one step closer to eliminating the mysogynistic laws against so called infanticide which ...

Manbearpig (read description) "Scientists at Linden Labs in San Francisco, California have successfully created a human-bear-pig chimera, in other words a manbearpig. Somatic cells from human and bear tissue were first transfected with a bacterial chromosome containing the Nanog gene and a GFP-IRES-puromycin resistance gene cassette. After a puromyocin screen was performed, the remaining cells were treated with a retroviral induction of Oct3/4, Sox2, Klf4, and c-myc, thus creating induced pluripotent stem cells (iPS). Induced pluripotent stem cells were used because of the ethical concern surrounding embryonic stem cells. The cells were then injected into pig blastocysts and introduced into the uteri of pseudo-pregnant pigs. The discovery was published today in the advance online edition of Nature Gold."
Stuff Pro life advocates should know - blastocyst I am prolife. Many times however I feel prochoice, because I spend so much time and effort trying to debunk some myths that are sold to the prolife community. So I am going to try to make a primer for things that every prolife person should know. First, anywhere between 30% and 70% of blastocysts do not implant in the uterus. A blastocyst is a thin-walled hollow structure in early embryonic development that contains a cluster of cells called the inner cell mass from which the embryo arises. It contains about a hundred cells and implants into the uterus about ten days after conception. However due to a defect the blastocyst may not be able to implant. If this happens the blastocyst will be flushed out during the next period. This is important when you believe that life begins at conception. 30% to 70% of souls never make it past 10 days and never even show up on a pregnancy test. FIRST MY COMMENT: My name is David Stein and I live in Warminster. Pennsylvania, I am of the Jewish persuasion, and I am a 63 years old male who has suffered with INSULIN DEPENDENT TYPE 2 Diabetes FOR THE LAST 17 YEARS OF MY LIFE. I truly believe in my heart that your God and mine who I strongly believe is one and the same would not Uke to see over 110000000 + individuals living in the United Stats of America today suffer any longer with chronic diseases or illnesses which has the potential to be cured by utilizing (IVF) Embryonic Clean Stem Cell Lines (ECSCL). It amazes me that for the first time in USA History that Science is not allowed to progress WITH THIS VITAL RESEARCH OF CLEAN EMBRYONIC STEM CELL LINES RESEARCH, AND I EMPHASIZE "CLEAN LINES"." UNDER THE GUIDANCE OF THE (NIH), a compromise but forth (by then Senator Rick Santorum and presently by Senator Arlen Specter representing Pennsylvania ).. AS YOU ALL KNOW, The bill S-5, now known as the Stem Cell Enactment Act of 2007, also requires that the donation of any embryos for research will only occur after the decision has been made by the donor couple to dispose of the leftover blastocysts from the In Vitro Fertilization IVF process. 試管嬰兒新儀器照相可提升成功率 IVF breakthrough could help increase success rates Written by: Brian Lieberman on Tuesday, October 5th, 2010 | Posted in Fertility,IVF, News, Treatments Scientists in the US claim to have developed a way to identify which embryos are more viable than others, increasing the chances of successful pregnancy through IVF. In the study, scientists discovered three key features which are present in the most viable embryos -- those which grew into blastocysts, which are embryos that have been allowed to develop in the lab for longer before being transferred into the uterus. It is hoped this knowledge can now be used to help IVF clinics when selecting which embryos to implant to give the best chance of pregnancy, because they can now identify at an earlier stage which embryos will grow normally. In normal IVF embryo transfers, embryos are implanted into the uterus two to three days after fertilisation, when they reach the 'four-cell' stage. But in a blastocyst procedure, the embryo is allowed to develop for five to six days after fertilisation, before transfer. However, the blastocyst must still attach itself to the wall of the uterus for pregnancy to occur. The US research team, through the use of time-lapse photography, were able to demonstrate the three key stages of development that would predict with 93 per cent accuracy the chances of an embryo growing properly to become a blastocyst. Clinical trials for the new technique are now being planned, although future use of the ...

冷凍比新鮮胚胎成功率高 Frozen blastocyst transfer more successful than fresh transfer By Sarah Guy 07 March 2011 Fertility and Sterility 2011; Advance online publication MedWire News: Vitrifying all available blastocysts created during IVF and transferring them during subsequent cycles could improve the chances of achieving a clinical pregnancy, show study findings. Compared with fresh blastocyst transfers, Guo Qing Tong (Shanghai 1st Maternity and Infant Hospital of Tongji University, People's Republic of China) and colleagues found that vitrified-warmed blastocyst transfers resulted in higher implantation and clinical pregnancy rates, and no increased incidence of multiple pregnancies. "Several studies have demonstrated that endometrial receptivity can be adversely affected by controlled ovarian stimulation," say Tong et al. Thus, implanting the previously vitrified blastocysts into an unstimulated uterus during a subsequent cycle could eliminate this concern. After 110 blastocyst transfers and 136 vitrified-warmed transfers carried out at their center, the researchers report implantation rates of 37.0 and 25.2 percent, respectively. Corresponding clinical pregnancy rates were 55.1 and 36.4 percent: statistically significantly higher for vitrified-warmed transfer cycles. Overall multiple pregnancy rates were 37.5 and 40.0 percent for the fresh and vitrified-warmed groups, respectively. "Perhaps it is time to rethink the conventional wisdom that transferring fresh blastocysts is best for the ...
Gentetic testing in the 21st century (8 March 2011) UCL Lunch Hour Lecture: Genetic testing in the 21st century: Should we screen the human embryonic genome before implantation? Dr Joyce Harper (UCL Centre for preimplantation genetic diagnosis) In preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD), embryos are created by IVF and cells removed from these embryos for genetic ***ysis. Until recently, testing was solely for the disease the couple carried. The use of array-comparative genomic hybridisation and single nucleotide polymorphism arrays has entered the PGD arena. These techniques allow all chromosomes and many genes to be examined. The ***ysis of the whole genome prior to implantation brings ethical concerns. Will healthy couples opt for PGD to select their 'best' offspring?
