  • Satan's Letter This is a strange place, and extraordinary place, and interesting. There is nothing resembling it at home. The people are all insane, the other animals are all insane, the earth is insane, Nature itself is insane. Man is a marvelous curiosity. When he is at his very very best he is a sort of low grade nickel-plated angel; at is worst he is unspeakable, unimaginable; and first and last and all the time he is a sarcasm. Yet he blandly and in all sincerity calls himself the "noblest work of God." This is the truth I am telling you. And this is not a new idea with him, he has talked it through all the ages, and believed it. Believed it, and found nobody among all his race to laugh at it. Moreover -- if I may put another strain upon you -- he thinks he is the Creator's pet. He believes the Creator is proud of him; he even believes the Creator loves him; has a passion for him; sits up nights to admire him; yes, and watch over him and keep him out of trouble. He prays to Him, and thinks He listens. Isn't it a quaint idea? Fills his prayers with crude and bald and florid flatteries of Him, and thinks He sits and purrs over these extravagancies and enjoys them. He prays for help, and favor, and protection, every day; and does it with hopefulness and confidence, too, although no prayer of his has ever been answered. The daily affront, the daily defeat, do not discourage him, he goes on praying just the same. There is something almost fine about this ...
  • Hillary Clinton's secret gov't prayer group: The Fellowship Hillary Clinton has been an active participant in conservative Bible study and prayer circles that are part of a secretive Capitol Hill group known as the "Fellowship," aka The Family...Sean Hannity has called Obama's church a "cult," but that term applies far more aptly to Clinton's "Family," which is organized into "cells" -- their term -- and operates ***-segregated group homes for young people in northern Virginia. The Family's most visible activity is its blandly innocuous National Prayer Breakfast, held every February in Washington. But almost all its real work goes on behind the scenes -- knitting together international networks of rightwing leaders, most of them ostensibly Christian. In the 1940s, The Family reached out to former and not-so-former ***s, and its fascination with that exemplary leader, Adolph Hitler, has continued, along with ties to a whole bestiary of murderous thugs. As Sharlet reported in Harper's in 2003: During the 1960s the Family forged relationships between the US government and some of the most anti-Communist (and dictatorial) elements within Africa's postcolonial leadership. The Brazilian dictator General Costa e Silva, with Family support, was overseeing regular fellowship groups for Latin American leaders, while, in Indonesia, General Suharto (whose tally of several hundred thousand "Communists" killed marks him as one of the century's most murderous dictators) was presiding over a group of fifty Indonesian legislators. During the ...
  • Lady LifeGuards -- Blue Diamond Blues This is from a short taking a good look at the "lady life guards" of Manhattan Beach. And let me tell you, it is the strangest, vaguely creepiest, most blandly ***ist movie about women life guards you'll ever see till you find Baywatch. The whole movie is about ten minutes long, it's giggle worthy and has lots to point at and protest. (Like the chubby life guard dude inspecting the lovely lasses!) But all that aside, notice the uniforms! Diamonds! So, you see, Blue Diamond Blues isn't a blues, and there's not much blue about it. In fact, it's a pretty triumphant "woot, I got the girl!" song which probably is a lot like my rooster crowing when I stuck a hen into his pen. But! I do have blue eyes! A little more rock'n'roll by Street Legal, natch. Some rights reserved. Welcome to Route 66.

  • Total Eclipse of the Heart {Part 4 of 4} Miley raced into her car after spending thirty minutes getting dressed in her nicest dress. She pulled out of her parking space and onto the road. Her eyes continued to overflow with tears. Her heart was pumping faster than it should have. It was already broken, which made it hurt more. - Nicks eyes shifted to his beautiful bride that began her gliding along the long light pink carpet covered in rose petals. A small smile graced onto her lips as she says Nicks intense gaze. Emilys cheek turned pink as her father kissed her cheek softly and sat down. She lifted up her crème colored dress and stood opposite of Nick. - Miley pulled up to the church, staring at the full parking lot. She raced out after finding a parking spot. She wiped away her dripping mascara as she sucked in her nerves. She stormed inside the church and stared at the entrance to the chapel. Could she really do this? - Nick lifted Emilys veil and smiled as he repeated the priests vows of holy matrimony. Emily followed and both were told to continue with the rings. As his hand lowered to hers to slip her ring onto her finger, the doors banging against the stone walls caused him to jump up. He clutched the ring and turned to the cause of the noise. A gulp escaped his lips as a lump began to form in his throat. "Nick." Miley stated blandly as she walked along the aisle of the chapel. The room was dead quite; a pen dropping could be heard. Emilys gaze shifted from Nick to Miley. "Who is this?" The blonde asked ...

  • Where the wild things are Song off the "Architects of Time" album by Ben Rusch More info at Lyrics Excuse me if it looks like I'm completely disengaged From the vacuous expression staring blandly into space But from time to time I need to take my mind Where the wild things are If I look right past the obvious in things that I perceive There's a chance despite a bland façade there's beauty underneath But to get a clearer view Of the subtle hues I need to close my eyes And right behind The half-closed eyes Is a world of endless bliss, the rest is noise You're welcome to join Let me reassure you I'm still here and I won't go away But sometimes when my mind goes wild I need to join the fray When the tempers flare You can find me there Trying to calm things down Sometimes I like to revel in the miracle you are From the safety of my own thoughts and I won't be gone too far From time to time I really need to hide where the wild things are And right behind The half-closed eyes Is a world of endless bliss, the rest is noise You're welcome to join (c) Ben Rusch, 2010

  • Enemies of solar power: who's stopping solar power Everyone has to pretend to be for solar, or at least tolerate it; but utilities, unions, building inspectors, people who don't like change, fire departments, planning departments, regulators, and many business interests do, in fact, want to stop or at least slow down the move to DISTRIBUTED POWER GENERATION. They do so by making up troublesome regulations, making the code ever more difficult, making it more difficult to get permits, and now, enlisting fire fighters to create regulations that will cripple solar power. You don't even need a permit to put in a solar rooftop water (thermal) system! But if it's solar electric, much less ugly than the sheets of black plastic or raised glass thermal panels, all sorts of enemies arise, who claim solar electric is UGLY, DANGEROUS, NEEDS EXTENSIVE STUDY, PLANNING, PERMISSION, APPROVALS, and so on. It takes about 3 days to install a solar PV system, but 6 weeks to 6 months to get through all the RED TAPE paperwork, opposition, petty tyrants and solar opponents, who blandly claim they are just doing their job. But their job seems to obstruct solar, or at least, delay it. Everyone agrees that safety is important; but every solar system has to follow the NEC National Electric Code! So it's got to be safe, and up to code. The enemies of solar power go BEYOND the code, making up all sorts of frivolous, non-standard, varying and inconsistently applied regulations. For example, in many cities you can't go to the ridgeline with the panels ...

  • Watch takers online for free Takers is the kind of movie where tough guys walk away from an explosion, in slow-motion, without looking behind them. But don't worry! It is also the kind of movie where a man leaps sideways, in slow-motion, while firing two guns at the same time! And the kind of movie where that man is Hayden Christensen! If you're not hooked already, I don't know what else I can tell you. Directed generically by John Luessenhop from a screenplay written blandly by him and three others, Takers is a buffet of Gritty Crime Drama clichés that offers no surprises but nothing egregiously stupid, either. Basically, you shouldn't see it on purpose, but if you are abducted and required to see it, don't feel like you need to struggle too hard to get away. Our heroes (I think) are a group of suave, handsome bank robbers. Always dressed to the nines and prone to lounging in the finest nightclubs after a job, these are fancy thieves! And a good-looking bunch they are, too. Christensen plays AJ, who is a street-wise Ivy Leaguer, which means he has tattoos AND a stupid hat. Idris Elba is Gordon, a British cat with a drug-addled aunt (Marianne Jean-Baptiste) causing him problems. Michael Ealy and noted Rihanna-puncher Chris Brown play brothers Jake and Jesse, and Paul Walker is their leader, John. What's that you say? Paul Walker and Hayden Christensen in the same movie? That's like having a movie with a plank of wood in it, and then also, in that same movie, having an identical plank of wood! These ...
  • Sholom Rubashkin and Agriprocessors were forced to file for bankruptcy? If so...? The following words are part of a news report entitled: Rubashkin Appeal Hearing: "Appearance of Partiality" Sufficient to Wipe Out Trial Wednesday, June 22, 2011 By Debbie Maimon, Yated -Bluffing His Way Through- Peter Deegan, Assistant United States Attorney from the Northern District of Iowa, then argued on behalf of the government. As if he hadn't paid attention to or absorbed the earlier discussion that had left the government's arguments discredited, Deegan blandly repeated them. His presentation followed the style of his briefs—leaning heavily on obfuscation of the facts, as in misstating legal rulings and omitting the parts that contradicted his position. "Defendant was given an opportunity to file for recusal and did not do so," he began, trying to repackage the "motion-is-not-timely" argument that had moments before been left in tatters. "Under Rule 33, the motion for recusal has to be based on truly new information. And it has to show prejudice." The judges were not playing along. Chief Judge Riley broke in with, "The question is, did the defendant have sufficient information to move for recusal at the time? If he didn't then but does now, according to my Fletcher opinion [cited earlier by Lewin], this is his second chance to do it." Deegan tried his argument that "defendant's new information is not new; it was raised by the DeLarosa motion," but that too had been discussed earlier. Judge Riley drew on Lewin's argument in disputing Deegan. "We're talking about ...

  • The Ultimate Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle Hack: Part 5 of 17 This is a playthrough of The Ultimate Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle hack, attempting some combination of speed and style. This part covers Stages 21 through 24. Stage 21: A mostly good level, except the bucket platform was stupid, and the potion should've been placed lower. Stage 22: An excellently designed, fairly easy level. Stage 23: A blandly designed, fairly easy level. Stage 24: Blind drop overkill. Unless you figure out the secret to effectively use the potion--basically, doing exactly what I did in the video--the level's a nightmare.

I decided to drag myself out of bed. I get dressed into: and walk outside. Alex is standing on the corner of my street, so I keep walking towards him. "So what are you guys going to do to me today?" • Communist Comeback - Russia May 1996 This bleak wasteland of icy snow tinged with grey coal dust is Vorkuta, Northern Siberia, Russia. In the 1940s Stalin sent political prisoners here to build coal mines. One survivor described it as "hell on earth". Yet in Vorkuta, the communists are making a comeback. Officials hand out cards from Communist leader, Zyganov thanking his doughty supporters. Their smiling faces brim with new found confidence. Five years ago the miners of Vorkuta led a national strike in support of Boris Yeltsin. Today they turn to the communists because they despise Yeltsin even more than their old taskmasters. 250 metres below ground, in dark, cramped conditions, miners risk their lives, but don't get paid. Yeltsin's market economy has failed them. At Yeltsin's former HQ, a group of miners are on a hunger strike. All injured in mine accidents, they have waited months to receive their pensions. They scoff at pictures of Yeltsin on the TV. A local communist blandly promises to restore coal subsidies. He says Yeltsin's failures have turned Vorkuta into a Gulag once more Produced by ABC Australia Distributed by Journeyman Pictures

  • Love Soup, Anna Thomas With its title and a kitschy illustrated bright cover with hand-drawn lettering, along with all vegetarian recipes, it's hard not to think the blandly healthy vibe of the 1970s, but Thomas (of the Vegetarian Epicure cookbooks) presents 160 new and enticing recipes that may just charm even a die-hard carnivore. Soups are organized by season and range from hearty selections like rustic leek and potato, and minestrone for a crowd, to lighter summer options including tomato and fennel soup with blood orange and sweet corn. A deconstructed hummus soup, along with pickle soup, make the collection anything but tired. Inspired by a temporary housing move that included a kitchen less than seven feet wide, the author knows what it takes to make a recipe manageable and doesn't skimp on advice when it comes to time- and space-saving tips like freezing, doubling and garnishing. Recipes for breads, dips and spreads, salads and a collection of desserts, as well as sample menus at the start of each chapter, make it easy to plan a full meal. (Sept.) • God Of War 2 - Stoned Kratos Rides Again Even more Stoned Kratos glitches! Points Of Interest: 1. You can create a stone Kratos clone from doing an "upgrade breakout". 2. If you stand on top of your stone Kratos clone, Euryale (and other enemies) dont seem to realise that Kratos is in front of them. They just stand blandly watching him, I guess its a self created sweet spot of sorts. 3. You can stack 2 stoned Kratos' on top of each other. (Of no real use). 4. If you create a "semi-stoned" Kratos, and make him slanted, he will remain slanted when he becomes frozen by the Gorgon (unlike regular slanted Kratos, who becomes stoned upright and normal). 5. If slanted/semi stoned Kratos breaks out of being slanted/semi-stoned, he does not lose his slantedness. 6. Again, Kratos standing on his stone Clones makes him "invisible" to his enemies, gorgon just stands in bewilderment. 7. You can mini-game enemies while standing on your own stone clone! This causes the enemy to be lifted up on top of the stone clone with Kratos, and the mini-game takes on top of the stone clone! I should have tried to mini game Euryale, would be tricky but will put up a vid if I can pull it off. To learn to do stuff like this, go to:

  • Mazurka Tzigane from Sound of Paris The sultry-sad strains of an accordion waltz are as much a symbol of Paris, especially to foreigners, as the Eiffel Tower, Toulouse-Lautrec's paintings, and cafe-sitting with a tiny cup of bitter coffee or a pearly, anise-flavored infusion of Pernod. The tunes are seldom heard outside France except in fragments and in passing, mostly to establish a hackneyed sense of time or place in movies and documentaries. But the tradition known as bal-musette (originally named for the musette, a bagpipe found in the Auvergne, which was thankfully replaced by various types of squeezebox fairly early on) is more than a century old and definitely deserves a fair hearing. The style is based primarily upon a dialogue between guitar and accordion, but drums, banjos, double basses, and vocals are also employed in both acoustic and amplified forms. What stands out under closer scrutiny is the degree of sophistication the musicians are capable of. They fearlessly mix Italian, Argentinean, and gypsy themes and the arrangements toss in an occasional daring dissonance or unexpected rhythm. The result is not the expected blandly cheerful background music, but a sensual, jazzy, and even subtly intellectual groove. It is multi-leveled and can also be interpreted as lighthearted and tourist-friendly, but the point is that there is much more to it than that. It is also becoming trendy with younger Parisians who are flocking to modern bal-musettes, where they dance the night away much as their ...
  • Third Eye Blind And here's a PIF. The male compliment to the one I uploaded two years ago under the Reedian title "You're a Slick Little Girl", it features a blandly handsome 19-year old, played by a 26-year old (probably), recounting his tale of explosives-related disfigurement. The reveal is arguably more effective than the earlier one, with the scar being nastier-looking than the bags under the girl's eyes, but it's still a bit limp. Compared to that little girl's piercing shriek in "Take Care With" - which even the soothing tones of Ray Brooks couldn't salve - it's frankly prissy. Against "Fireworks Safety - Parents'" legendary money shot it doesn't even register (although were that ever to be rediscovered it'll never live up to its reputation as being twice as horrifying as Clive Barker's nightmares - it's probably just a handful of Kensington Gore and a burning porkchop). This and its sister have yet again been pulled out for service this year, alongside the Enn Reitel-tastic "Sparklers. Handle with Care.", which was at least funny ten years ago when it was made. Or whenever it was. These date from 2002, arguably old enough that the actors in them could no longer pass for ***agers anymore. They were welcome at the time after years of bland "On Fireworks Night Do Things Right" and Neil Morrissey and an all-but-forgotten campaign consisting of talking heads on black screens delivering semi-humorous entreaties to follow the Fireworks Code (Jasper Carrott, David Seaman, possibly Peter ...

  • Jodie Foster in The Secret Life of TK Dearing 1975 1/5 For historical and educational purposes only. "Although the reasons for America's obsession with Jodie Foster in all of her phases - especially her youth - are better left unexplored, the universality of her appeal is a familiar and comfortable fact of life. We can freely, then, discuss the Product as if doing so is normal and rational, as opposed to ***istic and insane: "The Secret Life of TK Dearing" (1975; Jodie is 12 years old here) tells the story of a tomboy-ish girl called, for unexplained reasons, TK, who a) shuns her female friends and their girlish pursuits, preferring to belong to a secret club for boys (the at-least-on-paper incongruity of her interest and membership in such a club is unremarked-upon) and b) helps her widower grandfather to escape the overbearing attentions of his daughter (TK's mother) and to Realize Himself. TK is only nominally the focus. The device of what is really the grandfather's story being told through her eyes undoubtedly results from the audience demographic involved (this was an ABC Afterschool Special). Thankfully, the grandfather is played by the classic character actor Eduard Franz, so you don't really mind Jodie's having to share the stage. For this program is, after all, valuable now only as a document of Jodie as she looked and sounded and acted (at least when she was bored) in the summer of 1975. The story, script, music, direction, etc, are all blandly routine, but the one thing that somebody got just right is the ...
  • Pokemon Platinum: Wifi Battle #77 Battle Compooterfreak it's been ages, Pooter D: Note: moment that I missed the flinch of Gyarados, made me mistake that I thought Gyarados Dragon Danced succesfully, but as Azelf proceeded in extrasensory again, I assumed it was scarfed so I brought in Forretress. Blandly even not paying attention to the damage deals from Life Orb. OTL
  • God of War 2 - Skip Euryale Phase glitch I was screwing around with stone Kratos clones when I got this glitch again. (Previously when this happened I wasnt recording). Points of interest: 1. If you create a stone Kratos clone, and then continue to fight Euryale as normal, you sometimes get this glitch where Euryale goes straight into her death mini-game when you go to pull her down from the second pillar. She skips the final phase of her fight. (This glitch is not very common, Ive only had it happen to me 2 or 3 times) 2. Note Euryales glitched transition from being wrapped around the pillar to going straight to death mini-game. Strange to see that column still standing at the end of the fight. 3. There are some attacks that Euryale can do right on the stone Kratos clone without it breaking (strange). 4. You can trap Euryale behind a stone Kratos clone, would be a good sweet spot if those damn stone Kratos clones were not so fragile! 5. You are not always 100% safe standing on a stone Clone (mainly in Euryale's final phase)...if she has already started attacking while you were in the process of getting up on your stone clone, she will continue her chain of attack, if your stone clone survives, then she will go back to staring blandly at Kratos without attacking. (If you jump up on the Kratos clone before or after an attack, Kratos becomes "invisible" to her AI. see my other stone clone vids) Its easier to be safe up there on the stone clone during every other Euryale's fight phases except for the final one. 6 ...

  • The Maya Diaries - Episode 13 - Europe Trip - Berlin Well here we are Ladies and Gentlemen, the second video in my 5 part series documenting my trip around Europe. When I left you last I was enjoying a comfortable nights sleep courtesy of Andre. in the morning I travelled to Berlin. Possibly the most cosmopolitan and diverse cities on our roadmap around Europe. This description is meant to be a supplement to the video and will therefore not blandly describe the events that you see. I suppose it is meant to be a reward for those willing to take the time and actually read the supplementary information. Obviously I don't have time to go into everything I did in burning in a 10 minute video so all just post some notes of interest and prose of wisdom. Some reason Berlin was the first place we visited gave us an air of trepidation, I mentioned briefly in the video that a large proportion of the buildings and objects around where we were staying were covered in graffiti. There was graffiti in places which you thought it would be impossible for anybody to reach however this vagrant art form prevailed. I don't want to be the sort of person to jump to conclusions about the inhabitants of a location covered in tags however it doesn't instil in me a feeling of local pride. I really did like the hostel boat, the ever so slight rocking of the cabin and the serene bar on the top deck really added value. What are having gone into depth about during the course of these videos are the interesting people that we met along the way. I've ...
