FIXED GEAR BALI I proudly present yet another self-glorifying fixed gear video, adding to the erroneous plethora of useless fixed geared bicycle films littering the Internet. My latest epic release Fixed Gear Bali, is the follow up to the ever-popular Fixed Gear Jakarta, a film that went viral among my family. FGB is a transindental trip around the "Island of the Gods," highlighting the various sects of the blossoming partisan cycling movement. Fifty years ago most Indonesians rode bikes, and now thanks to clever marketing and a desperate need of group affirmation, urban dwellers of Indonesia's major cities are rediscovering their ancestry velocipede roots. Within the past two years Jakarta has seen an explosion from fewer than a dozen fixed gear bicycles to over four thousand. Bali has also caught the bike bug with fixies, junkers, cross, MTB's and foldables all taking to the streets in slow moving packs of trendy yet bewildered cyclist. If anything I find great hope in this movement as it shows there is more to cycling than lycra, and that through the acquisition of expensive imported parts one can define their unique identity. But more than anything it gets people off their exhaust belching motorbikes and out of their air-conditioned cars to experience their beautiful island home with a form of silent transport. A little local politics -- As a famous British guy said long ago, "In a democracy it's not our leaders who let us down it's the people who let the leaders down." So let our ...

Share The Road - Buses and Bicycles The Chicago Department of Transportation and the Chicago Transit Authority partnered to create this training video for bus operators and bicyclists on how to safely share the road. With an overall theme of shared responsibility, the program provides guidelines for avoiding crashes at key conflict points such as intersections and service stops. CTA is using the video to train bus operators, and CDOT urges all Chicago cyclists to view the program and practice safe cycling. This project was funded in part with a grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation, Division of Traffic Safety.

From the Netherlands to America More than ever, American cities are casting their gazes across the Atlantic for fresh ideas and inspiration when it comes to making bicycling safer, more convenient and more practical for everyday short trips. No place in the world has more experience with bicycle transportation than the Netherlands, where more than a quarter of every trip made is on two wheels. But bicycling isn't ingrained in Dutch DNA. The Netherlands became a global leader because of very deliberate choices made by city leaders and traffic planners that made bicycle transportation a real priority, backed up with supportive policy, funding and state-of-the-art design. A delegation of city officials from Chicago, Washington DC and Miami visited Holland in search of great ideas to bring home.

bicycling the C&O C***, Chesapeake and Ohio C*** Towpath Bicycling the Chesapeake and Ohio C*** towpath, which is a National Historic Park, is the high-light of my tour on the eastern coast. The trail is hard-pack dirt and gravel that horses and mules pulled barges carrying cargo from Cumberland Maryland to Washington DC. Most of the locks used to raise and lower the barges are still in place. There are hiker/bikers campsites placed about every 10 miles. The trail passes thru small towns about every 25 -30 miles. www.nps.gov this video uploaded at the public library in Williamsport MD

Vulnerable on the Open Road: Five pro cyclists reflect on bike safety While safe roads matter to everyone on a bike, professional cyclists spend more time on them than almost anyone. It's how they make a living. These talented, world-class athletes may seem super-human at times, but they are humans like any of us—vulnerable on the open road. In this video, five professional US cyclists reflect on their experiences with bicycle safety. Some riders, like Lucas Euser and Craig Lewis, have seen their careers nearly end after severe crashes with people driving cars. Others, like current National Road Race Champion Timmy Duggan, haven't faced such extreme incidents, but still have a vision for better bicycling conditions and motorist-bicyclist interactions. All riders share their lessons and ideas for how our communities can become more bike-friendly and safer for all road users. Even though these riders are the top 1% of bicyclists, their advice—slow down, be aware, don't blow through red lights, build more infrastructure, get more people riding—applies to anyone who likes to enjoy the simple pleasure of a bike ride. Athletes, in order of appearance: Lucas Euser, Team Spider Tech Craig Lewis, Team Champion System Kristen Peterson, Professional Triathlete Timmy Duggan, Liquigas-Cannondale, Current US Road Race Champion Mike Friedman, Optum Kelly Benefit Thanks to Skratch Labs for supporting this video. American Flyers, wheelie scene. This scene, in my opinion, is arguably the best bicycle stunt in motion picture history, slightly visibly soiled by some cowboy hat waving cheeseball and Kevin Costner's ass. I do attest that I am most certainly quite heavily biased.

Inventive New Yorkers Develop Bamboo Bicycles In major US cities, bicycling is increasingly seen as an environmentally-friendly way to get around. New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has launched a campaign to promote bicycling by adding bike lanes and proposing a tax on cars that drive on city streets. In 2008, an estimated 185000 New Yorkers bicycled to work, an increase of 35 percent over the previous year. Now one New York bike studio is teaching people how to make their own bikes. VOA's Paige Kollock reports.

Inspired Bicycles - Danny MacAskill April 2009 Filmed over the period of a few months in and around Edinburgh by Dave Sowerby, this video of Inspired Bicycles team rider Danny MacAskill (more info at ) features probably the best collection of street/street trials riding ever seen. There's some huge riding, but also some of the most technically difficult and imaginative lines you will ever see. Without a doubt, this video pushes the envelope of what is perceived as possible on a trials bike. Credit to Band of Horses for their epic song 'The Funeral.' Bicycles Move Stuff in Ames, Iowa #1 A growing number of bicycling enthusiasts in Ames, Iowa, have obtained trailers for their bicycles and are commonly seen hauling items around town. A few of the folks are long term friends, but most have gotten to know each other informally in recent years through their bicycle-trailer activities. Several organized themselves as a contingent for the 2009 4th of July parade in Ames and showed up in spite of the heavy rain. From that collective effort, the idea evolved to offer residential moving services. The first move was for a friend of one of the cyclists and was carried out on July 12, 2009. Many of the trailers were manufactured by a small company, Bikes at Work, in Ames with a Web site at: For further information about the group's moving efforts, contact Jim Gregory at Bikes at Work. This video was produced by Helen Gunderson (one of the bike-trailer enthusiasts) of Gunder-friend Productions of Ames with a Web site at: The music is The Bubblegum Song by the Pretty Good Band. It was active in the Ames area in the 1990s and included: Mike Bell, Rick Exner, Von Kaster, Joe Lynch, Lonna Nachtigal, and Mary Sand.

He is buried in the town cemetery ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Something I was told after I made this video, is that if you a planning to visit Douglas WY during the State Fair, you will have a hard time finding a place to camp in the City Park. The KOA campground might be tough too. A touring bicyclist may be able to slip into the campground around the edges, but there is no guarantee. The hotels in town are usually booked as well, so you might have to ride a couple miles out of town and find a place to camp on the open range. (of course you can come into town, enjoy the fair, take a shower and return to the open range in the evening) here are the dates for the State Fair in Douglas for the next 3 years 13-20 Aug 2011 11-18 Aug 2012 10-17 Aug 2013 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The ThreeWheelJourney "Award of Excellence" is bestowed on Douglas WY -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- official bicycle map of Wyoming (in PDF) http ...

Taxco urban downhill mountain bike race - In this footage filmed from a camera mounted on a rider's helmet, we see MHLTD sponsored race winner Brendan Fairclough's hair-rasing descent through the narrow streets of Taxco in Mexico. Taking part in the Taxco urban downhill, Fairclough races down steep stairs, on a mud track, through suburban streets, squeezes through alleyways and jumps over makeshift ramps -- all in under four and a half minutes. This is a part of the social campaign that MHLTD is go-green organisation and against vehicular pollution. We also chose to participate in Mexico event to protest against drug trafficking.
