Teachers ram cops with barricades, police fire tear gas at Mexico protests Police fired tear gas and clashed for several hours on Tuesday with teachers protesting against a visit by President Felipe Calderon to the southern city of Oaxaca. 20 protesters were injured during the running clashes, which lasted several hours. Police at the scene said five officers were hurt. The teachers threw rocks and hit police with sticks. The protesters also torched a government vehicle and beat the Oaxaca state Public Safety Secretary Marco Tulio Lopez when he tried to call for calm outside the government offices. Through The Barricades by Spandau Ballet - My tribute to the city of Berlin It's almost 20 years since the fall of the Berlin wall (November 2009 will mark that anniversary). I have loved this city for many years now so I decided to put together this music video as a tribute to the noble city, the heart of which was torn in two in 1961 by the erection of barbed wire barricades, later being reinforced by concrete and later the infamous "Berlin Wall" as most people will refer to it as. The majority of photographic images featured in this video are owned by me, however there are 1 or 2 that I have used as I found them to have the visual impact I wanted. This song, "Through The Barricades" by Spandau Ballet has always conjured images of Berlin in my mind and I finally decided to make the music video I thought was most fitting to the music. I hope you enjoy it and will welcome any comments you may like to make.

Travis Haley helped us out a lot here by demonstrating how to properly use a barricade in a dynamic and stressful threat environment. The main goal was to NOT get "sucked in" to the cover in front of you. Instead, you stand back from the cover, with your weapon already up in the Ready position, ready to engage the targets downrange. You then quickly step out just a little bit from behind cover, giving yourself and your carbine just enough room to identify the threat down range so that you can engage and eliminate the threat without exposing any more of your body than what's absolutely necessary. We ran these drills for about an hour. At each barricade, shooters would either do Standing, Crouching, Kneeling, or the Urban Prone position. This was one of my favorite drills in the 2-day course! I started on the first barricade shooting with only one arm because I'm paralyzed from the waist down, which means I can't use my butt muscles or the my last 2 lower abdominal muscles, so because of this I shot with one arm and held onto the opposite side wheel with my support hand. Travis saw me doing this and told me to try and find a way to shoot around the barricades using both arms on the gun. It took me a few minutes to figure out the right positioning for me to do it without losing my balance and falling over to the right/left side.
