Australian town bans bottled water Anne Barrowclough in Sydney Until yesterday the town of Bundanoon (population 2500) was best known as the host of Australias version of the Highland Games. Now it has become the worlds first place to ban bottled water. At a public meeting last night its people agreed to back the ban, which will mean local businesses will stop selling bottled water and visitors will be discouraged from drinking it. Instead, they will be provided with bottles labelled Bundy on tap that can be refilled with water from taps and filtered water fountains on the main street. Its a moral thing, said Huw Kingston, the owner of a coffee-and-bicycle shop who had already stopped selling bottled water. Its not easy to do when youre running a business in a small country town — a thousand dollars is a thousand dollars. But the sale of still bottled water is a fantastic con by the beverage industry — convincing people to spend A$3.50 [£1.70] to buy essentially the water that comes out of a tap. Until recently it seemed that the worlds love affair with bottled water would never end. Sales in Australia increased by 10 per cent last year, with Australians spending more than A $500 million on still and sparkling water. French Burka Ban From tomorrow, April 11th 2011, France bans the burka, Naturally the religion of peace has threatened to attack France for doing so, and part of the spearheading team was our good friend Anjem Choudary. He was to join other luminaries such as Abu Izzadeen and Omar Bakri in a massive public protest in France against this xenophobic, racist, wicked and uncalled for attack on good Muslim men who want to preserve the honour and purity of their women. There was a problem though, the three of them were stopped by police and refused entry to France. The protest did happen without them and it is reported that there were "61 people arrested, including 19 women wearing veils and an illegal immigrant who was carrying an offensive weapon" - I believe that was probably a copy of the Qur'an. The ban will impose fines of £130 and 'civic duty' guidance to women caught wearing Islamic veils. Exceptions include crash helmets and ski masks, with the government making it clear that garments favoured by Muslim women are the principal target of the legislation. Perhaps these much abused Muslim gentlemen will be able to get their wives to wear motorcycle helmets when they are out of the house - in fact, kit them out with a full set a leathers, a Harley Davidson and a bag full of money and they can ride off into the sunset and leave the poor chaps to dress up in their wives discarded burkas themselves - perhaps have trip down memory lane parties and take turns beating each other up for walking ...

France set to vote on face veil ban France's parliament is set to vote on a proposed legislation banning the wearing of face veils in public places. If passed, prospective punishments for those violating the law include imprisonment and a hefty fine. BBC Newsnight: UK Bans Exports of "Bomb Detecting" Dowsing Rods January 22, 2010 on BBC Newsnight: The UK government has announced a ban on the export to Iraq and Afghanistan of some so-called "bomb detectors". It follows an investigation by the BBC's Newsnight programme which found that one type of "detector" made by a British company cannot work. The Iraqi government has spent $85m on the ADE-651 and there are concerns that they have failed to stop bomb attacks that have killed hundreds of people.
