Balk or not There is a debate in our town about whether this pick off move is a "balk". Some say that you have to "disengage" the rubber when picking to first. The rule does NOT say this. The debate is not about which move to teach but about this move being a BALK in Cal Ripken/Babe Ruth league baseball. Oh, by the way, there is NO WAY this is a balk. I have sent this video to MLB Umpire website and major umpire schools, Div 1 coaches and they all say a RHP does NOT have to disengage the mound when picking to first. Some coaches teach pitchers to disengage the mound to ensure a better throw to first and that has been misconstrued as a "rule" when it's only a "move" to first. If you leave a reply try and leave the rule # if you are saying you HAVE to disengage when picking to first. I bet you can't do it.

Eight years after it came out, and I can claim with enough confidence that in my ears, this still sounds like George Paap's production masterstroke. Tracks like Drill, Actor Nine, Balk Acid and Amoco Cadiz are yet be surpassed in terms of production complexity, intensity and general sound quality. Not for the candy ravers, not for laid back home listening, the type of music which would make your girlfriend question your sanity, the album remains a landmark classic. A benchmark in Speedy J's extensive opus, with potential to de(con)struct, taer apart, knock down and build back up from scratch listeners perception of music. With a distinct and instinctive knack for provoking ample sets of moods, defying the odds and keeping a repellent attitude towards trends, "A Shocking Hobby" will continue giving rise to doubt, while its status of a unique work untainted by foreign factors remains in tact. One of the best albums I own. Heavy weight stuff this good doesn't come around very often, so missing out on this would be a capital mistake. 10/10. Thanks to maroko, Discogs.

Companies and people balk at rip off 2012 Olympics (15Mar11) The £20bn rip-off London Olympics in 2012 gets off to another great start, symbolic of the shambles that is the UK. The idiots install a clock in Trafalgar Square, defacing the square for the next 500 days - and withing hours it breaks down. Not to be outdone, the tickets for the fiasco descend into controversy as they will only accept cards of a certain card company, automatically excluding a huge section of the population from applying. Then there's the new controversy of the debiting of cards for tickets nobody will know what they get until some time in the future, people might not want those tickets or change their mind, but that's the Olympics con for you. Expect litigation when this occurs by people being conned into tickets they don't want. Don't forget the UK police are protecting the illegal ticket cartel scam, so much for free trade and "globalisation".. only when it suites whoreporations like the IoC and police. And to top it off, we find out that the smaller companies and local councils don't want to pay the rip off prices for the Olympics, and oh by the way you crooked 2012 ***s, don't you know the UK is in recession, and the LAST thing companies and local councils will be doing is piss money up a wall on going to the Olympics. So all turning out to be a traditional British ***-up. £20bn pissed up a wall for yet another of Tony Blair's vanity projects - just like the Millennium tent.
