  • Updated 38g Freshwater Aquarium as of 09/08/10 This is my updated freshwater aquarium, as of 09/08/10. Since the last video, i've lost pretty much all of my Anacharis and Ludwigia, as well as a Fancy Guppy. I rearranged the plants and driftwood so that more of the space toward the top of the tank is filled up. I also removed the Aquaclear 20 filter that i had on it, and moved its contents to the 55g in order to help it cycle quicker.

They had driftwood with anubias, baby tears on lava rocks, and even a bunch of new plants like ludwigia repens and rotalla. Now i regret not buying the repens last night. Hoping that the water wisteria and anacharis will grow nice and i know that it will! Going to be uploading some plant videos aswell as some older videos that i forgot to upload probably. Please comment, and subscribe if you like my video, and i also was wondering if you guys could give me some thoughts if the tank will be okay with the corys or if it is overstocked or too small for them and the betta? Thanks for watching, hoped you liked my video :D More to come soon!
  • Planted 10 Gallon Community Fish Tank w/ Crowntail Betta Here's a vid of my planted 10 gallon aquarium. The whole idea started out as just a small 2-3 gallon Betta tank, then evolved to a 10 gallon community tank. Heihachi, my Crowntail Betta gets along great with the other fish. Contrary to popular belief, Bettas can be very social animals. They can be kept with other fish as long as those fish don't have big tails/fins and look like other Bettas. At one point, I put him in his own 5 gallon tank and he just looked totally lost. By the third day or so, he was just laying in a corner of the tank. Turns out he was depressed. I put him back in the 10 gallon tank and he was right back to normal. Anyway, here's how I have the tank stocked: Fish: 1-Crowntail Betta 2-African Dwarf Frogs 3-Sunfire Platys 4-Ghost Shrimp 7-Black Neon Tetras Plants: Amazon Sword Anacharis Dwarf Hair Grass Moss Ball (I forget what's in the back right, so if you know, feel free to fill me in) That might be a larger fish load than normal for a 10 gallon tank, but I'm running a Tetra Whisper EX30 filter, which is way large, and I do a 20% water change weekly. For the plants, I keep 1 Flourish root tab near the base of the sword and dose the water with API Leaf Zone once a week. The sword grows nice and steady and the anacharis grows like crazy. I'll usually propagate a couple pieces every couple weeks. The only problem I have is a little brown algae and some green algae on the substrate. I might lay off the Leaf Zone for a little and see if that helps. Video ...
  • Red eared slider (RES) tank set up, diet, and care. Done Right. Yoshi is a female RES. She is in a 55g bowfront, with a 205 fluval canister filter, fluval heater, uva uvb powersun bulb. RES CARE • The light cycle should be anywhere from 12:12- 18:6, adequate dark time is necessary for your turtle to sleep. • You must make sure you to use UVA/UVB dual spectrum • Generally canister filters work best for turtles, the norm is to use a filter designed for twice your tank size. I do not do this and it works fine ATM. Diet • feeder fish, meal worms, river shrimp, krill, crickets and other feeder insects • Vegetables/plants: Hyacinth, red lettuce, anacharis, water lilies, duckweed • Fruit: blueberry's and grapes work best. Only feed this 1-2 times monthly Up to 3" feed everyday blood worms, or pre-soaked pellets. These work even better if you can feed them in a Rubbermaid of sorts. As your turtle grows it will lose its omnivore characteristics and start leaning more towards a herbivore diet. Once over 3" I usually feed every other day, and offer lettuce or anacharis to graze on. Water temp:75-82 Fahrenheit Basking temp 82-88 Fahrenheit
  • 15g: Zebra Danios This is a video of my 15g freshwater tank. • Native/Cold Water Aquarium, Spined Sticklebacks I have been collecting planty of grass shrimp and killifish (mummichogs) in the brackish trap throughout the winter. Last week I had something new for me though, about a dozen Sticklebacks. After taking some time to properly identify them, still not 100% on the exact species, prob 3-Spined Sticklebacks (Gasterosteus aculeatus) or a subspecies thereof, I set the trap again and had about 2 dozen more and added them to the tank. They seem to be doing well and like to hang out in the newly planted Anacharis recently introduced to the tank. The Pumkinseed Sunfish has been feeding well on the shrimp and killies. He tried to eat one Stickleback on the 1st day and was in for a rude surprise when the spines stuck in his mouth and he freaked out, now he leaves them alone! The tank is doing well... Java Fern, Anubis, and Anacharis growing well, along with some grass shrimp, plenty of Killies schooling around, and the new Sticklebacks. Looking forward to getting a few Redfin Pickerel for the tank in the next week or two and making some new vids.

  • 29 gallon fresh water aquarium. Tetras, Plecos, Shrimps, Anacharis Probably passing one month since I started this fish tank. The music in the background is from Bela Bartook's "Music for Strings, Percussion and Celesta". I always have music playing in my computer room where I keep aquarium. New residents - I bought two dwarf plecos and three amano shrimps from petland. One shrimp died the same day. The rest are doing well. The plecos were always hiding the first 1-2 weeks and now are finally moving around. I guess it took that long for them to get used to the new environments. Shrimps are sometimes hard to find as they are transparent and work the entire bottom surfaces including underneath the rocks. I only have anacharis for plant. Some branches were growing so fast and reached the water surface. I had to cut them and planted in the center, between two bunches that I originally purchased from petco. I guess they're healthy. Water change/cleaning - I bought the siphon thing from petco few weeks ago. I have this clean plastic trash can (less than 2 gal) so I used it to collect the water. After several push of the pump bulb water finally started flowing by itself. Trash can filled up so quickly that I could only vacuum 3-4 spots and have to go dump the water. I could see the brownish water being vacuumed up the tube. I made about four trips then the water level was 10-15% lowered. I probably cleaned less than 15 spots (no need to clean entire gravel according to my experienced coworker friend). Then this is where I made a mistake. I ...

  • Nano Update 5 (Garden Variety) A lot has happened since my last update, including a vacation and a move. I lost my Rasboras and my Rotala during the vacation, not to mention started growing algae. However, this is several weeks after the vacation and after the move, and I have recovered almost everything. Since the crash I added some Neon Tetras which are thriving and healthy, and some Anacharis to take the place of the Rotala. I also replaced Elocharis Acicularis with Elocharis Parvula which grows shorter, and looks much tighter and better. I chose the Neons for their coloration and the Anacharis or it's ability to take a lot of nutrients out of the water...but I also think that the Anacharis is a beauty in and of itself. Feel free to ask any questions.

  • Red Eared Slider Turtle Feeding Time Yeah just feeding my hungry red ear slider turtle. I trained this guy so he is used to my presence. If I put my hand in the water he would bite, thinking I was food. He also eats fruits, worms and other food that turtles naturaly eat. There are also other turtles living in this pond, two small ones and one big one similar size to the one that you see in the video. They are a bit camara and people shy because they are new. There are also fishes in this pond, koi, goldfish and shubunkins. The shubunkins spawned this spring and the fry have grown significantly since then. There are about 10 to 20 of them. Most the time the fish hide in the shade of the grape vine. There are also plants, Hardy water lily, water hyacinth, anacharis, and cattails. The cattails are covered by the grapvines. The Lilies are enclosed inside the netting to protect them from being consumed by the hungry turtles. Any questions and comments feel free to ask.
