  • How To Fiberglass - Mold Layup My next video. Information and a demonstration of how I layup one of my molds. Headlight eyelids. Big thanks to Randy Roach(GlasserGlass) for some handy tips and some inspiration to make a vid or two. EDIT(30/May/08): I noticed this video has got 7000 views in 2 months so it looks like ill do another one for you all. Considering how many people are viewing this video I thought I would clear up any misunderstanding and give allot more text info here relating to the video. I only put one wax application on this mold because its an older mold and its been well used. For fresh molds you must put several layers of wax on and I would consider PVA as well if the mold is less then a week old. Always use PVA (or equivalent) on your plug surface before molding. Ive got allot of PMs about the gun. The gun used in this video is just a very cheap method of spraying gelcoat on some of my smaller molds. For the larger parts, tooling gelcoat or for anything I want precision, I use a HLVP gun with a 3.5mm tip. Most of the time for these small parts I just brush gelcoats, you can get just as good results. When brushing leave longer then usual before resin/CSM, I usually leave it overnight. This is so that any high spots from the bristle streaks have time to fully cure. If you layup over any wet gelcoat you will get alligatoring(crocodiling) reactions on the surface. There is no maximuim time between gelcoat and resin/CSM. Gelcoats do not contain wax which means they will ...

  • Norwich Connecticut- sealcoating a condo development- 860-886- SEAL (7325) Why seal asphalt? In spite of its excellent adhesive and waterproofing properties, asphalt has some serious drawbacks that relate to its chemical makeup. Asphalt is a very complex mixture of thousands of chemicals which are predominantly open chain (aliphatic) in structure with a considerable degree of un-saturation within their molecular structure. The open chain provides easy access to weather, salts, and chemicals to attack and disintegrate the asphaltic molecules. As the asphaltic molecules disintegrate, the asphalt in the pavement loses much of its original properties, such as binding and waterproofing. The first visual sign of this phenomenon is a progressive change in the color of asphalt pavement from rich black to brown to gray. Furthermore, asphalt, being a byproduct of the petroleum distillation process, is easily dissolved by other products that also are derived from petroleum, such as oils, fats, grease, mineral spirits etc. The reason is quite logical: As petroleum, these various products existed together for millions of years. It is only through the petroleum refining process that they are separated for various uses. Because these individual products come from the same source, they have a natural affinity for one another and when put in contact with each other will try to join together again. So when automotive oil or gasoline — both petroleum distillates — leak onto an asphalt pavement, they will work to easily dissolve the similar chemicals in asphalt ...

  • How to Troubleshoot Exterior Paint Problems Painting a wood sided house can pose some problems that require special attention. Proper preparation before painting will ensure that your paint will last a long time. Lets begin by troubleshooting some of the problems that can come by not prepping your surface accurately. Problems from excess moisture can produce algae, lichens and mildew. Algae can be green, red or brown and are found in areas that grow on damp surfaces. Wash the surface with a 3-1 bleach to water solution. Next is lichen growth which is caused by excess moisture. Lichen growth should also be cleaned with a bleach solution, but if that doesn't work you will need to strip the area then add a primer and repaint. Mildew is most common in moist shaded areas. To get rid of mildew be sure to make sure that the surface is not near sprinklers and that the gutters are working properly. Next, scrub with the bleach solution. Once the paint has set in, you may begin to notice that the paint is not sitting well. Most of this is due to typical problems from weathering. The first is fading which happens from too much exposure to light. To be sure that your paint does not fade be sure to use 100% acrylic latex paint which will last longer. If you notice a fine powder on your home it is called chalking which is caused from inadequate priming the paint or not properly painting. Use TSP and water to clean the debris off and rinse well. The next topics covered can all be solved by scraping, sanding and applying primer ...

  • 1922 baldwin h grand piano This video was uploaded from an Android phone. This is my 1922 baldwin 5'8" grand piano. Got for free from craigslist. The piano is in original condition. Original ivory keys in near perfect condition. There are no discolorations in the keys. The cabinet is in remarkable shape considering how old it is. There are no scratches on the lid, rim, or legs. The front keydesk does have a few light scratches probably from peoples knees rubbing against the front. The pinblock has a crack around the low E, therefor it wont stay in tune with 3 different notes. The rest of the piano is impeccably sound. This piano has yet to be tuned by me. I aquired it 1 year ago, from a piano mover who left it in his garage unheated in negative 30Fahrenheit for over a month. The piano is still in quite good tune. It is quite dusty, and could use a refinishing of the cabinet, due to alligatoring (or orange peal) of the finish. Hammers are in incredible condition. In person the piano is not bright. Its got a mellow but very well rounded large tone for such a small piano.
