The Alamo Love this scene from the Alamo. The song is called Deguello de Crocket. Note* - Folks please don't message me accusing to be some stupid Texan...yadayadayada. I put this music up solely for the song. There is understandably a lot of passionate feelings on both sides about the Alamo, about the Texas Revolution, etc. But it's been almost 200 years now...Personally I say get over it. Again, I put this scene up only because I love the scene.

WW II : RARE COLOR FILM : LOS ALAMOS : 1ST NUCLEAR BOMB OWK 4 The Roads of the Foolish and the Wise Prabhupada : We may apply our intelligence to manufacture an automobile, radio or television for sense gratification, but we have to understand that this is not knowledge. Rather, this is plundered intelligence. Intelligence was given to man to understand the problems of life, but it is being misused. People are thinking that they have acquired knowledge because they know how to manufacture and drive cars, but before the car was here people were still going from one place to another. It is just that the facility has been increased, but along with this facility come additional problems--air pollution and over-crowded highways. This is maya; we are creating facilities, but these facilities in their turn are creating so many problems. Instead of wasting our energy to supply ourselves with so many facilities and modern amenities, we should apply intelligence to understand who and what we are. We do not like to suffer, but we should understand why suffering is being forced upon us. By so-called knowledge we have simply succeeded in manufacturing the atomic bomb. Thus the killing process has been accelerated. We are so proud to think that this is advancement of knowledge, but if we can manufacture something that can stop death, we have really advanced in knowledge. Death is already there in material nature, but we are so eager to promote it by killing everyone at one drop--this is called ...

Bridge-safety monitoring technology, Los Alamos National Lab A novel use of a model helicopter and inexpensive sensors allows inaccessible portions of highway bridges to be checked for structural stability or damage. www.lanl.gov This is the project of David Mascareñas, a doctoral student from the University of California-San Diego's Jacobs School of Engineering, working at the Los Alamos Engineering Institute with Director Chuck Farrar. Mascareñas' project uses electronic sensors powered by microwaves to gather and send data via radiotelemetry to an airborne computer for ***ysis. In this case, the computer is airborne thanks to a radio-controlled helicopter that Mascareñas has retrofitted to serve that function. Low-cost sensors placed on a bridge or similar architectural entity detect electrical charges emitted by stress on materials, such as the steel-reinforced concrete used to construct many bridges, and transmit the signals back to a receiver in the helicopter as it passes. Pokémon TRU Event: ALAMOS Darkrai *NOT UP FOR TRADE* Note: I just fixed my camera so the recording is a little late. Thats why it says June 4th in my DS. So, I went to Toys"R"Us again on May 31st '08, just like for TRU Manaphy in September 29 '07, to get this special Darkrai. The distribution of this Darkrai is to commemorate the celebration of the movie Pokemon: The Rise Of Darkrai. This time, I chose not to record it right in Toys'R'Us. To get this Darkrai, you had to have Pokémon Diamond or Pearl, and at least have obtained the Pokédex. Here is what the ALAMOS Darkrai should look like: Darkrai OT: ALAMOS ID: 05318 Item: Enigma Berry Ribbon: Classic Ribbon Moveset: ~Roar Of Time ~Spacial Rend ~Nightmare ~Hypnosis It very similar to the Japanese Movie Darkrai, besides the OT, ID and the fact that it is in English rather than Japanese. It can have any Nature, so thats why I'm not saving unless I get a good nature + IVs (Timid, Hasty, or Naive are good natures I'm looking for). After you downloaded Darkrai, you were given a Type Compatibility Chart (shown in video), as well as a coupon for $5 off any DS title (I used it, so its not in the video. xD)! UPDATE 6/5/08: If you missed the Toys"R"Us Event, and you live in New York City, you can still get Darkrai! Towards the end of June, you can download Darkrai in Nintendo World Store! Don't forget, to rate, comment, and subscribe! To find out more about Darkrai, here are some links: Pokédex: Strategy: ...

Milestone Reached: Waste Shipment Leaves Los Alamos National Laboratory Milestone Reached: Waste Shipment Leaves Los Alamos National Laboratory LOS ALAMOS, NM, June 2, 2009 — Remote-handled transuranic waste will go to WIPP Los Alamos National Laboratory officials today announced the departure of the Laboratory's first shipment of a special type of radioactive waste destined for the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant in Carlsbad, New Mexico. The material, known as remote-handled transuranic waste (RH-TRU), has been stored at the Laboratory since 1995. A total of 16 canisters are scheduled for shipment this year. The shipments cleared the final regulatory hurdle on April 16, when the New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) approved a report detailing the contents of the canisters and where the material was used. "NMED asked us to begin shipments expeditiously, and thats what we're doing," said Michael Graham, LANL associate director for environmental programs. "We've done training to demonstrate we meet the NNSAs stringent nuclear safety requirements, and we're ready." The 16 canisters each contain three 55-gallon drums filled with rags, tools, plastics, glassware, and other equipment used in enclosures known as hot cells at the Laboratory's Chemistry and Metallurgy Research building in the 1970s and 1980s. The canisters are currently stored in special underground shafts at the Laboratory's Area G. The Laboratory plans to prepare three to four shipments per week until all 16 canisters are gone. Thanks to shielding and design, a loaded RH-TRU ...

Sabrage in Los Alamos with Tai Chi My friend Steve using his inner chi to perform sabrage on a champagne bottle Tai Chi style. Steve uses Kung-Fu to open the champagne bottle. Sabrage is the ceremonial opening of a champagne bottle with a saber. The Sabrage master uses a sabre which is slid along the body of the bottle toward the neck. During sabrage, the force of the blade hitting the lip separates the annulus from the neck of the champagne bottle. The cork and collar remain together after separating from the neck. Sabrage in Los Alamos is a very recent tradition, but is growing thanks in part to the efforts of sabrage master, Mark Saltus who is credited with bringing the art of sabrage to the downtown Los Alamos area. As there are no schools for sabrage training, sabrage is an art passed down from one sabrage master to willing sabrage students. As sabrage involves sabres and high-pressure champagne, please do not attempt sabrage without proper preparation and an experienced sabrage master present. Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin

HazMat Challenge 2010 at Los Alamos National Laboratory LOS ALAMOS, New Mexico, July 27, 2010—Four*** hazardous materials response teams from New Mexico and Oklahoma tested their skills at the 14th annual Hazmat Challenge July 27-30 sponsored by Los Alamos National Laboratory. The challenge provides hazardous materials responders the opportunity to network and learn new techniques under realistic conditions in a safe environment. Held at the Laboratory's Technical Area 49, the event challenges participants to respond to simulated hazardous materials emergencies involving a rail car, a clandestine laboratory, transportation and industrial piping scenarios, a simulated radiological release, and a confined space, said Chris Rittner of the Laboratory's Emergency Operations Division. The finale of the Hazmat Challenge is an obstacle course; teams are graded and earn points based on their response skills. The Laboratory began the Hazmat Challenge in 1996 as a way to hone the skills of its own hazmat team members. The competition now offers a training opportunity for other New Mexico and regional hazardous materials response teams. Winning teams receive a plaque.
