Aborigine - Sorry Day: Collective Journalism Since the white people came to Australia the Aboriginals have been treated like animals, been showed off at freak shows and been separated from their loved ones. For more than 100 years up until the 1960s the government of Australia took Aboriginal children from their parents to give them a "white" and christian upbringing. This trauma is still affecting the young generation. The 13th of February 2008 Prime Minister Kevin Rudd made a historical speech where he apologized to "The Stolen Generation" for what they hade been put through. We went out to "The Block", an Aboriginal community in Redfern, Sydney, to hear what the people there had to say about the apology, or what is now called "Sorry Day". "Vanguard," airing Mondays at 9/8c on Current TV, is a no-limits documentary series whose award-winning correspondents put themselves in extraordinary situations to immerse viewers in global issues that have a large social significance.

The dance you are watching is all their self-made including the song mixed. In order to empower their confidence, we give them love, trust, and chances for future change. This film is taken in June, 2009. Look! They practice quite a lot and perform very well although all of them are from high-risk families. And in the association, we have more then 30 kids from high-risk families including some parentless, even homeless. Please give them your warmest big-hand as a great encouragement. Thank you! May God bless us...

Vancouver Cops Freeze Drunk Aborigine Man to Death Daily News @ RevolutionNews.US ~ Judge criticizes police work at freezing death probe... There was a clear failure in the way Vancouver police dealt with a homeless aboriginal man who froze to death in an alley where an officer left him, a former Crown lawyer turned BC Supreme Court judge told a public inquiry into the death. Justice Austin Cullen was the regional Crown lawyer when Frank Paul died of hypothermia in an alley on Dec. 6, 1998, and he was the first of at least four prosecutors to review the case between 1999 and 2004. In a rare glimpse behind the Crown curtain, Cullen and the others have been forced by a Supreme Court of Canada decision to testify at the inquiry into Paul's death about their decision not to charge the officers involved. "Clearly there was a failure here, there's no doubt about it," the judge told the inquiry Tuesday. "I found it a troubling case because of the nature of the allegations," he said. "The fact that somebody had died, whose death may have been prevented." Full Article www.ctvbc.ctv.ca --- "Educate and inform the whole mass of the people... Aborigines Hunting Dugong A simple documentary that follows dugong hunters as they scour the ocean for precious dugong and marine turtles. This documentary explains the different social responsibilities involved in the killing of the dugong, and its preparation for consumption. An important aspect of this film is that it illustrates the role and importance of traditional food to Indigenous communities, and how the communities were and are very dependent upon the natural resources to sustain themselves. The rituals that govern the hunting and gathering of traditional food reveal a very deep relationship with the food source itself, and each food source will have its own Dreaming stories and laws associated with it.

Re: Blip - Aborigine Australians were probably rain-makers, Part 1. Video Cam Direct Upload -- Uluru (or Ayers Rock in Australia) may have been a rain scraper. Throughout contemporary and ancient history, mankind has had a remarkably ignorant relationship with precipitation. What we admire as progressive initiative in research and engineering may only in fact be little more than an insignificant fraction in the possibility of human reason and other higher forms of thought any human individual might be capable of. The ancient aborigines marched to the different tune, as it were, and came up with stewardship fire-setting in order to do what we now might tend to think of as preventative burns of the bush or scrub or woodland to keep later more life-threatening bush fires from happening. But were they doing more? We don't know, and worse, have refused to know about the concept of cloud seeding as it was called in the 1950's. You see, when someone has proffered the illusion of being learned, that person or group of them, even worse, will actually stand in the way of discovery until they happen upon some actual research they can steal safely. The aboriginal scientists lacked what so-called civilization had and that was a form of literature capability that used characters on a portable shiffe of any sort such as paper, that, when in conjunction with a learned mind, could act as a sort of tape recorder to reproduce words, much as you're doing now as you "read" (catchy word) this text I have set down. We imagine this to be a great thing, but it is ...
